Great video! Clear and concise! Do you have a video to demonstrate how to setup MailPlus Server and MailPlus on the Synology DS?

I'm creating an app using Flask and Python, I compile all the app in a Docker container, everything is working great, I can access to the web app using the IP of the nas adding at the end the port. I would like to know if is possible to use DNS Server to create a name instead of write the ip of the nas and the port? Thanks!

Hi Tony, thanks for the nice demo. Do you know if it is possible to add an extra homemade entry somehow in the dns server on the nas, so that when I type in my browser 'webcam' my nas will redirect me to the webcam server on my lan? I know I can force this in my windows pc in the file, but that does not solve the 'problem' for others on my lan or random visitors.

Hi Tony, I was with you up until you got to enable resolution services, but my forwarder 1 auto filled the address as 114.114.114.114
Do I need to change that to the IP my browser is showing my NAS is using?

I am currently trying to access my NAS outside of my Local Area Network at work as if it where a locally mapped drive. It would make it much easier to edit CGI files if I didn't have to remember to transfer them back home to my main data drive when I was done working on them at work. is there anyway to do this?

Hello Tony, thanks for your videos :) In 2:43 you write the external dns (Forwarder 1 & Forwarder 2). Did you invited? Or from where did you take it? Sorry, I'm beginer and I dont understant this. Thanks!

Excellent, really helpful for me, thanks. There is one thing I am looking for and maybe you have it somewhere. I want to setup 2 different websites with public domains using Wordpress on a synology and SSL. I can not figure out how to do that.

What are the "external dns servers"?

So how do I know what my external DNS server is?

Great video! Something's not right with my setup though. After setting up DNS per your instructions, nslookup still finds all of the servers I try after I disable resolution services. I'm still getting a lookup table somewhere else. Any ideas where to look?

Hi Tony! Great video. Very clear.

I was wondering if there is any way we can change the DNS on the router so we don't need to change the DNS to point the NAS on every device at home. Thanks!

Great video. I can't wait for part 2 when you show how to add local computer names and addresses.

great video! now how about if you don't want to go to all the internal hardware directly and want to set this up on your gateway? If you set the gateway DNS to the IP of your NAS it should work in similar fashion? So the internal servers/PC's would query the gateway (which is how its usually setup default in a small business) and then you can control how the gateway works for DNS.

I do not understand what is the point of creating your own dns server at home. everything works fine for me with the dns server of my home isp.

Hey Tony, Might I ask what would be the use of running your own DNS server for a small business for example?

Great Videos! Thank you for this. Today I am using an Asus Router and have my asus ddns which i use to access my cameras and ham radio stuff. I want to goto an Edgerouter, and I do have a Synology DS918+ on line. Can I adopt a DDNS name from my Synology and use that DDNS for devices on the router... ie, Cameras, ham radio stuff?
Thanks!
Bill

Can i point my Linksys router to look at the synology dns? I think there is an option for me to set up static DNS address which should technically be the Synology ip address? For now I have my router pointing to OpenDNS.
