Ive had pneumothorax two times now with 13-14 years inbetween both times. I went through surgery last week after i hesitated to do the surgery because of the risks associated with being put in artificial coma (probably not the right term in english). You're told theres always a risk and so doctors cant guarantee you'll make it, but when i woke up and the first words i heard was "Surgery was successful", i didnt regret it for a second. I was just happy as a clam, making bad jokes and thanking everyone i saw around me. Im still connected to a cardiothoracic drainage with 2 tubes going out from my right chest, but im gonna live, im gonna LIVE!! :D

Thankyuuu so much i been confuse the whole day thinking how a pneumothorax can have a opacity on the same side without having air dark area, you just cleared my confusion so easily, I actually ask my teacher but she wouldn’t give a clear reason like how you gave 👍🏻

Many thanks for this excellent explanation. One thing to bear in mind: Brock syndrome. This is where an enlarge lymph node causes compression of the RML bronchs, and it's occasionally seen on chest X rays.

Most of my right lung is covered in consolidation and ground glass opacity's and nodule's currently so this is what the doctor meant as at risk of collapsed lung....I didn't realize the difference between that and a pneumothorax.
