What a relaxed hand! I am going to spend the rest of my life to see if I can get my hand to relax like this.

The explanation of the octave tonality is beyond me. The violin doesn't want? I hear it is reluctant indeed I'm baffled.

This guy's technique reminds me of Heifetz. One of the best violinist that ever lived. Whoever you are thank you for making this great videos. We are so privileged.

Never thought of intentionally letting my E string squeal, almost feels like a cheat, definitely trying it right now!

We use this trick on the double bass all the time! We have very bing shifts so we always try to move on a harmonic. That way, we can just slightly touch te string on the harmonic and move to the next position. The string will keep the vibration from the harmonic on the open sting if you dose the bow pressure well. It gives extra precious time to do 80cm shifts !

That’s genius. I play cello, and I never would have thought of something like that.

This is what us woodwind players do a lot more than you'd think. If you hear a clarinet playing fast runs going high, they're probably using harmonics rather than the more stable normal fingerings used for say a slower passage where the tone of each note is more exposed.

I don't even play the violin and frankly know little about the instrument... yet this is fascinating and this Man's mastery of the instrument is simply a joy to behold

I saw him play with the Pittsburgh symphony and it was amazing. I enjoyed his concert much more than almost any other. I believe it was the Sibelius violin concerto that he played.

Usually these "tricks" can be super vague and not particularly helpful. This is a fantastic tip! Super applicable to many pieces, many scales, many styles, a brilliant nugget of Information and experience
