And tip: dont over-use as per the example, occasionally is better than every hit

Here's a fun flip on the trick: put the snare in the position where you'd put the pre-transient, don't cut it off, and on the actual grid, put a clap. Depending on the clap and how it meshes with the snare, if can give the snare a "collapsing" sort of sound

It’s intended to imitate the faint swooshing of a drum stick or kick pedal cutting through the air before hitting the drum. Keep it faint

For the kicks I usually use reversed 808 sweeps
In my opinion it gives a big energy if I make some hard trap or dubstep
I love your trick I'll probably use it in some of my tracks

Kinda reminds me of a simple flam in a way 🤔

This is a very old technique, but very powerful. You can also offset your kicks for a harder punch and/or sidechain the lows with your kick or some other impulse. It's used a lot in hip-hop. Good share ✌️

"nobody is talking about it" because it's been in every bedroom producer's bag of tricks for ages. You hear it often because it's obvious.

i'm really liking your content, i usually don't like "producing tips" videos; but there are actually useful, not obvious, nice little tricks that do a lot. props to you for sure, keep it up

Yes. I’ve used this trick on my productions before. Even, reversing your kick to tie into a kick feels like it hits harder and creates groove!

Def do this at end of 8 bar loops but I see how this can impact at different parts to enhance the drums great share

Yes, this is a great tip. I recall seeing one famous producer who mentioned using the blip of white noise to help convey kick transients. Thank you!

Camelcrusher british clean + Glue compressor on soft clip.

Boost transients hardcore and just makes the drums louder overall. Try it out!

I think also the sound selection for the pre transients makes huge difference cuz it can sometimes take away the punch from the kick.

My guy if you are synthesising them Change the polarity to be at the top of the curb at the very start of the kick. It pops like crazy

On the 909 it's a classic to combine the rimshot with the bassdrum.

I havent seen it commented here, but I remember a Computer Music Magazine Producer Masterclass by Feed Me / Spor from 2019 where he explained he uses small reverse open hi hats to lead the transient in. Its very powerful but needs to be done very subtle
