I totally get how from a youtuber perspective not getting a doll asap can be a regret, but I think in the long run its probably for the best for your collection to have time to think about which doll you add and not just fall into the fomo of not getting the new shiny thing as soon as it comes out. I'm not a youtuber, but I feel like probably some collectors (doll or otherwise) do start loosing the joy of collecting if it just turns into "I need to get this for the channel" vs "I want to get this for me".

When AG First started I fell in love and bought the first 5 dolls- all white bodies ( except Addy of course) their accessories, and Christmas dresses. I very stupidly sold them (my family needed help financially). I'll never be able to get a white body Molly- who's my favorite.

I'm glad I didn't fall down the Rainbow High slippery slope of collecting. I do own a few but most of them were gifted to me. I think I've only bought one, plus a couple that came home with me from the thrift store. Barbies - I feel you on that one too. They're so ubiquitous but I love them. I still collect them but I don't rescue them from the thrift store any longer unless they're really special.

I hope you feel better soon! I can totally relate to being a kid and selling my stuff. My best friend's family would have garage sales every summer and we would clean out so many toys and sell them for 5 cents each and that was such a goofball thing to do.

I have a couple of dolls that I might sell. But, I stopped collecting them at this point. I have so many outfits, that I can’t even use them all and I don’t want to sell them. So, I am working on my crafts again and it’s a lot cheaper. However, I still dress my dolls for Christmas and the twins for Hanukkah. 🎄

I bought about three Rainbow High dolls when they first came out and I did think they were beautiful dolls. I realized quickly that I prefer more historical and antique looking dolls so I sold them around Christmas time last year and avoided that rabbit hole. I also like MapleLea dolls. I only have Taryn so far and I think she is adorable. 💕 I am also from Canada but sadly doll collecting is challenging for us as some AG items don’t ship here and also I find there are very few doll shows. I would love to go to a doll show some day. I hope you feel better soon. 🙏

Regretting giving my sister her dolls I had rescued from a building that was to be torn down. My family is divided and when my mom, stepdad and their 3 moved from my grandparents property, 160+ acres and an abandoned mine town, they left a lot of stuff behind, including dolls and other items. I was able to rescue some things but ya, I should never have given up the dolls, sister moved, dolls went in trash because they weren’t wanted..

When I started collecting, I made up my mind to keep the size of my dolls low- I've seen so many collectors get bored because it takes so long to dress and do their hair and they end up selling most of not their whole collection. To those of you with lg. Collections that don't feel this way, I applause you. I have 7 dolls and just want another boy doll, and that's where I stop. There's plenty more I want, but I'm staying strong.lol

I am not adding any new brands to my collection but it is a few brands I wished I hadn't collected but I did anyway 😂😂😂. I will not sell my Rainbow High dolls but I don't see myself buying anymore...and I am just collecting the core series of Monster High for a minute before I stopped them too because I am burnout. I am an eclectic collector and I stopped collecting American Girl, the first of this year and I probably won't collect anymore of those either.

I've been binge watching some of your videos today while i'm recovering from a sickness myself. I haven't been able to comment on most of the videos, but I have really enjoyed them. Having regrets is a normal part of life, but I do understand having many doll collecting regrets. I have this one really big doll collecting regret, one time I was at Goodwill, and there was literally almost 200 vintage barbies (from the early 60-90s) and because I wasn't hardcore collecting barbie at the time, I only got a few. Now i'm hardcore into Barbie again, and I so badly wish I could go back and get all of those dolls. They were 88 cents. 😫 But still very happy about the twenty I did bring home that day.

I feel you so much on these tips! ❤

I got into Monster high a bit quickly this last year. Now don’t get me wrong, they are cute fashion dolls and I love their accessories and earlier shows/movies. I have yet to watch the new series 😅 I started with one about this time last year and now I have 32 😬 now to be fair some are now my daughters too but wow 😂 that escalated quickly and yes just like Barbie you have to buy the stands bc I’ve thrifted most of them plus finding or making little outfits for them too.

Also, I have started to get into Barbie again, and I found myself falling down the rabbit hole of Etsy made Barbie clothes…not cheap, but oh so well made! ❤ Also, didn’t go crazy with The Barbie Movie dolls but I’ve got four when I thought I’d only buy one 😅

And finally bc I’ve been getting the more affordable doll lines, I’ve neglected my first love of 18 in dolls 😢 and accessories/clothes…you live and you learn. I love that I can do AG payments without accruing interest though! I’ve found waiting for the sales and using your points direct from AG pays off if you buy a few times a year from them 😉

Thanks for another great video!!

Great video. It’s crazy how expensive AG stuff is in Canada. The exchange rate has most to do with it, I believe. Last time the Canadian dollar was around par was in the early 2010-2011 years.

I would respectfully disagree that the MapleLea outfits are better. Yes it’s true that there are some pieces that are more realistic especially the Native items, but on the whole I find AG outfits are more creative and interesting and of course there’s a larger breadth to choose from if you collect from past years. And last time I looked, most of the MapleLea outfits don’t come with shoes - I prefer having the shoes and accessories that go with each outfit, instead of one pair of shoes for 3-4 outfits. It’s annoying if you’re trying to dress many dolls, but I guess if you’re a kid and only have 1-2 dolls it doesn’t matter.

Canada is topographically bigger than the US; but over 1/3 of it is completely uninhabitable, so it’s not really bigger than the US in that sense. Canada has a smaller population and a smaller economy than many developed countries.

I have the opposite problem I buy dolls as soon as I see them if I want them if they are a good price that is. ❤

I love Pioneer Barbie!! 😃 I have her in storage somewhere. 😄 I loved those unique, educational barbies, Mattel doesn't really make those anymore. 🙁 I'm not getting Lila until after Kavi's has her full year, if I get her at all. Thanks for the tips and advice, it's really helpful. 🙂

I gave away a Gotz doll from my childhood because I wanted only AG dolls. I’d never take her back because she’s well loved. I just wished I’d kept her.

When I was younger I really wanted an American Girl doll because I thought it was better than Maplelea. My very first doll was Saila and I love her. A few years later and I found out about American Girl. I was for some reason mad about my Maplelea doll so I drew on her to prove to my mom American Girls were better. I don’t know what I was thinking. I really wish I didn’t do that because getting the marker off is pretty hard and to this day Saila has still bits of marker on her. But not to noticeable. I might just take her to the Maplelea Spa to get a new one.

Ohh my gosh, I can SO relate. I have been guilty of the rainbow high fever too, now I have dozens of them and I don't really play with them. They cost the same here in aus...The funny thing is, the minute i touch them or take them out for photos...i become attached again. I wonder if anyone else has this problrm 🤔.FOMO is a big thing in the doll collecting world, and big companies know it. Im currently trying to slim down my collection too. Great video❤

I discovered Monster High just under a year ago. I'm currently scooping up Rainbow & Shadow High dolls. 🖐️😬
I've always disliked big, unnaturally sized heads on dolls. But the diversity, fantasy skin colors, outfits, inset eyes....the themes resonate too.
I definitely went on an on again/off again shopping spree....but I definitely don't want to let them go, I'm just really, really focused on creating a display space now so I can actually ENJOY having them around me. ♥️
