Great video Maddie! Thanks for all of this information. I have my 1st endo appt in February after being diagnosed with T2 last Oct. It would be a miracle if my doctor is as attentive as yours. These big city docs I've seen in the past see 100 patients a day at 5 minutes per appt lol. I'd be grateful if they spend 15-20 minutes just to explain a few things. :) Thanks again, this has been really helpful on what to expect (I've been mistakenly expecting all of this from my PCP not realizing what an Endocrinologist was at first lol).

When I was first diagnosed I saw several different doctors for the first year or two. I went into appointments shy and scared. Then one doctor told me that usually if I was serious about my health I would come into the routine visit knowing exactly how to treat myself and what I needed to do. So I educated myself, and today I am the one in control of the appointment and my health. I just use the endo for running tests and refilling prescriptions.

Thank you for this video. My 16yr old daughter has just got her first appointment through with Endo at the Diabetes clinic, and we have no idea what to expect.

First off I’d like to thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am newly diagnosed with type two diabetes and have not yet gone through and endocrinologist so that was the whole reason for sourcing out more information. I thought you laid it out as good as you possibly could because it gave me a wealth of information in knowing what to expect for my first appointment. I did have a lot of questions as to where I would find my diabetes educator and how I would go about getting the equipment and you kind of touch base on that so I’m grateful. I guess in general I just wanted to once again say thank you for making this video because I thought it was very informative.

Thank you for this! I recently was told I have a growth (that's what my doctor called it but I don't know if it would be considered a tumor) in my pituitary gland and I have to go since its affecting my hormones and my primary can't give me medication for it and its scary cause I found out about it and the next day I flew out for vacation so I am kind of just waiting for my appointment with the endocrinologist.

Let me spin y'all a yarn 'bout this here video, it's as fine as frog hair split four ways. If you're wrasslin' with a primary care doctor who ain't up to snuff, not stickin' to them shiny new ADA standards of care, well, it's time to cut 'em loose quicker than a minnow can swim a dipper. Don't dilly-dally, just mosey on down the road and lasso yerself an endocrinologist. You gotta get someone who knows their beans 'bout your health, someone who can steer the wagon right. This video's like findin' a hidden treasure in your backyard, I tell ya, it's just that darn good!

Very good video, well spoken. I just had my second Endo. visit and it was terrible.
Both of these doctors were Indonesian and they talked like they were "on script".
They would not answer my questions so that I could understand there explanations,
and they were hard to understand. I would go to a female Dr., and YES make sure you
can connect with them, not just a one-way conversation. Females are better at LISTENING.

Well, let me tell y'all, the best doggone thing I did in 2023 was give my old primary care doc the boot – bless their heart, they were as useful as a screen door on a submarine – and wrangled myself an endocrinologist. Yep, switched 'em out faster than a cat on a hot tin roof! It's like goin' from ridin' a tired old mule to steerin' a racehorse. Now, my health's in the hands of someone who knows their insulin from their elbow, and that's sweeter than a peach pie in summer, I tell ya!

I have been a type two diabetic for almost 20 years so I am well-versed in all of this. Never had to see an endocrinologist because I had a recent A1c scare. So Dr blasted me to their department. I can tell you that on my first visit if I’m given a whole bunch of homework to do and a whole Lotta notes to take this is not going to be fun. This is where I will fail. I do not like this to be turned into something that is tedious, and takes out the way it’s intended it’s not that I don’t care about myself. . You just don’t know how crazy these people can get how paper happy they are. But I am very vocal and have no problem expressing myself. I am not intimidated by anybody, especially a Doctor Who works for me

I have made improvements to my diet and my blood sugar has gone back to normal after taking insulin for the past 2 weeks. Whats driving me crazy is that I don't know if I have diabetes because my blood sugar ratings are more stable. The numbers were 105 in the Morning, 95 in the Afternoon, and 94 in the Evening. (this was today) This was before I ate a meal. So I beginning to wonder if maybe I somehow reversed the Diabetes or if for some reason I had enough Insulin from all the shots I've taken to get me back to normal. I don't know anymore and I feel like I've just lost my mind over this whole thing. I know I have an appointment coming on Monday to see the Diabetic doctor but I am just so unsure. Maybe I'm overthinking but this has just been getting to me so much these days and its affecting my mental health.

Hey there! Can you please help with some advice even through it might not be about diet or diabetes? It's related to endocrinology though. I am 24 and I had a blood draw on June 24 (I try everything possible to get my yearly blood draws) and my family doctor discovered something unusual about my thyroid hormone levels. The fact that my FT4 level is 0.730 and my TSH is 1.49 made her a bit suspicious about my thyroid function even through I can't think of any symptoms related to thyroid function that I have. She advised me to see an endocrinologist for a full examination. I will have my first endocrinology appointment on August 17. Would these results make you suspicious too? In what circumstances?

Now, listen here, y'all, when it comes to diabetes, some folks reckon if you got Type 2, you must've done somethin' to stir up that hornet's nest yourself. But now, if it's Type 1, that's a different kettle of fish – like it just fell outta the sky and landed in your lap, no fault of your own. But let me tell ya, it ain't always black and white like a cow in a cotton field. Type 2 can be a tricky critter, with all sorts of things playin' a part, like your genes dancin' a jig with your lifestyle choices. It ain't as simple as pointin' fingers, no sirree. We gotta look at the whole barn dance to understand this diabetes riddle.

I’m scared; last week I had my annual exam and my primary doctor sent me to an endocrinologist and I don’t know why. She’ll explain more next week; I’m nervous.

They are not going to get all of that information from me. They don't need my history nor my symptoms. They are Drs so they can figure it out on their own. I'm not here to hand them the information they themselves are trained to figure out
