"One of the most charming parts of comic book history, and television history, is the Adam West Batman TV show from the 1960s... This was the only time where these characters were brought to life with such detail and bright color, and there was no overthinking about how these things might be taken seriously."

I was a huge Green Hornet fan as a kid(Grandma's fault), so when he and Kato crossed over with Batman... HOLY SHIT! *I lost it* as a kid.

Alex, you're exactly right. Yes, this is a departure but there was something definitely transcendent about it. You mentioned casting, costumes and investment in the storyline, but there was also something deeply personal that everyone working on the show brought-- call it love, call it respect for the legacy, call it happiness because of the optimistic outlook of the writers-- all of these intangible motives have also left a mark on our emotions and psyche.

BTW, I bought this issue of the New 52 a few years ago and it's amazing.

BATMAN 1966. was good for it's time and my favorite Catwoman is EARTHA KITT . and even until now there hasn't been a better batcave than the 66. just looking at that place was just breathtaking . R.I.P. ADAM WEST, YVONNE CRAIG, VAN WILLIAMS AND BRUCE LEE .
