I got a job after 2 years of unemployment just based of some experience in 3d modeling in university robotics club and watching your and other 3d printer related youtubers, I had lower than 3 GPA nobody even called for an interview. The company is a 6 year old startup, before they printed their prototypes from outside but were planning to buy their own 3d printer, I basically survived 3 months internship off of youtube and grabcad, recently they bought ender3 v2 and I've been having fun ever since, starting this year I'll be a permanent employee. You and others videos have been a great help.

One thing that bothers me when discussing 3d printing is how often people mention guns. Bla bla bla need to control 3d printing because GUUUNS bla bla. No, we need to control stupidity.

I remember spending 900 USD on my first reprap Prusa. It's nearly 7 years old still works and has printed dozens of clones. I they've gotten much cheaper and better over the years.

I've been interested in 3D printing for more than a decade, but I was a little daunted by hearing an owner of multiple printers say "You're not just buying a machine. 3D printing is a lifestyle choice." This was about the investment in time required to tinker, adjust, tweak, modify, fix, and experiment. These things can still be part of the experience, but from my recent research into 3D printers, I've concluded that 3D printing technology is matured enough to get a good out-of-the box experience without breaking the bank.

I finally bought my first 3D printer this last week, though I still haven't had a chance to clear some space to set it up. ;)

I was at virgin galactic and their 3d scanner was amazing. They scanned a students hand and it had amazing detail with no need to perform post processing.

Angus. Just got a Flashforge finder as my first printer. You are my go to on how to use. I have already been able to prototype pieces without having to pull time from one of my expensive CNC's. One of the myth's I have heard for thirty years is that a machine shop like mine will be put out of business by 3d printers. I think it will be awhile yet.

Can you do a 3D printing history video? How did they even slice, or design in the 80s? How did the controllers for the printers work? With vacuum tubes? Relays?
Did they have powerful lasers back then?

Re: practical 3D printing, I immediately thought of the 3D printer on the International Space Station.

I got into 3D printing a bit over 12 months ago when they had that on ya buy in bits from the news agent, no I didn't lol ... I ended up getting a K8200 been modded and rebuilt heaps since. At the time I found it hard and expensive to find filament and as for parts .... now look at what is out there and that's thanks to people like you that have created an awareness here in Aust ... Thanks

I now have 2 running printers .... the second one is one I've made up from bits ... yes all available on the open market here in the land where bits fall up

You should have given due credit to the reprap project and the expiration of the stratasys patent which were the two reasons behind the 3d printing market explosion.
