EDIT: Guys my comment about the new world was that there's NO MAP OR WAY OF GETTING THE ACTUAL BORDERS SO ITS ALL MADE UP, not that there weren't people there or something like that or that they were cavement....I've seen some comments below calling me very hurtful names from misinterpreting what I said.

Ludi saying it's all oral tradition when the Aztecs and Mayans literally both had writings systems leaving behind records of the histories of their respective regions. Both being translated smh. The Incans are mainly oral, but we do have records depicting population sizes and food production, as well as a dated oral history so we know who ruled Cuzco and when.

I don't think it's fair to say it's a "pure speculation", we have archeological research, so we can create let's say "somewhat legit reconstruction" ;)

Actually, there is a lot of information about the nations and cultures of the Andes (the most recient ones, archeological). Just take into account that by the time the invassion of the europeans, Andes (Tawantinsuyo) had a pobs of 10-12 million (spain and england together).
After the europeans there was a drop of ~90% of pops (leaving only 1-2 M) and almost a hole erasure of civilization.
It will be interesting how the game shows how devastating was the contact with europeans (in terms of disseases and death because of exploitation and killing).
At that time of the start date, there were regional kingdoms in the Andes after the fall of the Wari and Tiahuanaco (biggest unificators before Inca)

15:20 Multiple copper and bronze-working cultures were present in the Americas at this namely the Meso-American and Incan civs, but the Creek/Mississippian culture did some bronze working as well. (Reminder, most historic bronze is arsenical bronze, not tin bronze)

North America also had some quite developed societies such as the "Pueblo culture/civilization" and the "Mississippi civilization". the mayans had a very precise writing system and they were very precise with dates and before the aztecs there were many other powerful civilizations in mesoamerica. we know the names and reigns of many Maya rulers because they wrote those "Maya stelae" which were stone pillars. Teotihuacán was a city in Mesoamerica in 450-650. It had a population of up to 150, 000. nor were the Incas the first civilization in the Andes. The Nazca lines were made many centuries before the Incas. and although many civilizations did not have a writing system, archaeological evidence and ruins show these civilizations to be real and quite developed*. bones and stones and ruins don't lie. there were civilizations before the arrival of the Europeans and very early where it was possible.

2:23 More exactly, at this point in history, the Aztecs were still an alliance of 3 cities centered around Tenochtitlan (modern Mexico city), and the Incas are not unified yet. Cuzco, just like in eu4, would still be just a city with a few provinces around it.

Also, I'm not an expert of precolombian history, but I think that states in Mesoamerica and in the Andes should actually be countries and not societies, because a lot of archeological evidence shows that they were already very urbanized civilizations (some of them even developped at the same time as ancient Mesopotamia)

I think the way they worked with historicity and provinces is amazing and miles and miles ahead of previous EU games. It looks like they took inspiration from EU3 and EU4 mods.

Ludi it’s just not true that we don’t know anything about Precolumbian Andean and Mesoamerican societies. These people kept detailed records spanning centuries, especially in the Andes.

There were also state societies in the Mississippi basin, and arguably the American southwest. Also there very much are written sources for Meso-American history??? They had their own writing systems for millenia before European contact. Though many codices were destroyed, epigraphy and other written sources exist

Mansa Musa did not drain his people dry, he was actually a great patron of sciences, built universities and mosques, and was said to be very generous with the riches as a certain Ibn Batutta reports in his Travels
