They flee in cars, busses - and trucks. Vehicles choke the road leading out of Nagorno-Karabakh into Armenia. The people crammed inside have exhaustion etched on their faces. Many spent the night on the road. They fear they are leaving their ancestral lands for good.

No one mentions that 700 thousand Azerbaijanis became displaced since Armenia kept Karabakh under occupation till 2020. Only Armenian side of the story is covered.

I am just curious why you picked an Armenian professor to get his opinion ? Shouldn't we listening a more objective person ? Secondly does the level of democracy really matter when one of those countries are illegally occupying the other one ? If democracy is more important than illegal occupation why all Westerns are trying to be good buddies with Saudi Arabia ? They don't have democracy, they don't have much human rights and they executed a journalist in their consulate in Istanbul... Are western values that straight forward or it can be adjusted according to their benefits ?

I talked to some of those people who fled, they pretty much make them sign a paper that they are leaving voluntarily before they can actually leave.

Where was the entire world when not only Karabakh but also 7 regions around were occupied by Armenian separatists and over 1 million Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their homes in severe winter days with bare feet? These territory is internationally recognised Azerbaijan territory and Armenians leave this territory because it is not there land and they made genocide towards Azerbaijanis, please search Khojaly genocide. How many Azerbaijanis suffered Armenians anti - humanitarian activities? Armenians are afraid of their past deeds, the same may happen with them, but they forget that Azerbaijan is one of the most tolerant, peaceful and friendly countries.

In 1994, when Armenia invaded Karabakkh, they displaced 600.000 Azeris. No one is talking about that!
Still, that region is home to 120.000 Armenians. They should be taken care of and live as equals to other Azeris. Hope Azerbaijan can achieve that.

Comparing this to Ukraine isn’t accurate. The Azeris didn’t invade a sovereign nation. Nagorno-Karabakh is internationally recognized Azeri territory.
