Armenia's top army general is at odds with the government.
The president is refusing to fire him, even though the prime minister has publically called for his dismissal, accusing the military of an attempted coup.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has faced growing calls to step-down since November.
That was when protesters say he betrayed the country by ceding land to end a six-week war with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.

Al Jazeera’s Robin Forestier-Walker reports from the Armenian capital, Yerevan.

The dream of a Greater Armenia was replaced by a great disappointment. They could not accept it and expressed their hatred.

Dismissal of Army Chief like this is unwarranted & unconstitutional. Of Course replacement are always there in the Army. When the battle is not decided as yet jumping on the conclusions like this is premature & childish.

Yes, corruption must be stopped 🛑, but not by cost of young teenagers and giving away lands. Before anyone criticizing the matter, think what you would’ve done if same happened to your country and people?!? No one will imagine what it all means, until you guys get into “their shoes”!
