Look, we all got bamboozled by the “glossy” ASUS OLED that turned out to just have a glossy film over it, which yeah, that classic meme won’t fool me again, because this time I made sure to actually use my eyeballs and inspect it thoroughly. Fellas, this is the real deal.

The AORUS FO32U2P is a

Glossy
4K
240Hz
QD OLED Gen 2 gaming monitor

Which means that yes, it will have improved text clarity thanks to the new sub pixel arrangement, and hopefully these gen 2 panels are far more resilient to burn in as Samsung seemed to be implying with their early marketing.

Now as for the rest of the specs, it has a rated peak brightness of 1000 nits and 0.03ms response times that not only looks absolutely incredible thanks in part to its REAL glossy coating which allows for the most crisp image possible, but is also incredibly fast thanks to the outstanding 240Hz refresh rate.

Finally! A 4K glossy monitor with a high refresh rate! There is a market for this!

Another thing to note is that HDMI forbids open source implementations of HDMI 2.1, so it is actually impossible to use HDMI 2.1 with a Linux + AMD combo at the moment, I personally needed to buy a DP2 to HDMI 2.1 active adapter

This is the ONE... to rule them ALL (well until they fix that brightness via firmware... lol)

I hope these QD OLED panels last longer in terms of pixel count since that’s the only issue i have with WOLED.

WOLED is showing dead pixels over time which i think QD OLED should solve since i guess the blue light causes less stress to the panel than the pure white subpixel.

Right now, burn-in is the least of my concerns.

Finally DP 2.1. While 2160P @160Hz 10-bit works now on my LG 32GQ950 with a RTX 4090 there has been problems with flickering and black screens for a long time until recent versions of Nvidias drivers. So yes we DO want DP 2.1!

HP Omen is the one since it has both HDMI 2.1 and DP 2.1 and type C inputs on the same monitor. Not sure when it’ll release though. Gigabyte is making a separate non-P model with HDMI 2.1 but only DP 1.4.

Please save us from this mess by comparing variant with your trained eye. Also I think DP1.4 is a non issue but needs further testing for 4k 240hz 12bits HDR. Curious about noise too because Alienware has a fan which is better to prevent burn in but it's a deal breaker if it's loud.

Is gigabyte giving a burn in warranty? And for cooling, active or passive?

Lmao I love how you brought the tools to their display booth and just ran numbers there. Props to Gigabyte for allowing you to do that, and thanks for having showroom material showing it is FULL glossy! While I do hope they can update firmware at launch or shortly after to increase brightness to 250 nits full field SDR, and 450-600 in 10%, get the 1, 000 in 3% like the panel can, everything else makes this THE one to get. Display Port 2.1 UHBR20 port for futrue proofing, FULL GLOSS, $1199 and early release? Hope they make it available on Newegg and not backordered!

Honestly, I'm not buying into an OLED until they can get bright enough to overcome 95% of reflections on a glossy screen. Dim + Glossy Screen is a recipe for irritation.

I love that it's glossy. I do like having DP2.1 for future proofing. How accurate are the colors on Gigabyte? The new Alienware 32 OLED color accuracy is at reference level out of the box. DP1.4 but also has USB-C input w/charging.

wow it looks incredible, I'm on a 30 inch 15 year old Dell monitor and really want to upgrade to ideally a 42 inch but this 32 looks insane. Hope you go over the new Samsung and Lg Oleds when we get more info! Thanks Brother

It's funny before and during CES when the OLED monitor news starting to come up the question of many gamers is, are they glossy? lol and we're trying to find that little detail in the press release, videos, websites, etc. I don't understand with all that noise, those manufacturers just don't understand and still releasing some of the matte finish gaming monitor. I know it will reduce reflection (with the cost of picture color and vividness mind you), but most gamers I know don't play with lots of direct natural lights. Even most play in the dark to show all RGBs on their PC lol.

I’m pretty sure all new qd-oleds releasing this year are using gen 3 qd-Oled panels ?

Love how everytime I check back here there's a new 4k oled that's better than the last.

I'm not sure if it is worth it to get this Gigabyte over the HP Omen monitor which is also coming out this year along with DP 2.1. Especially if there can be some visual artifacts or other issues that can arise from the Gigabyte version of DP 2.1.
