Wondering how to make a nuisance of himself next, Howard Ritchie crashes the UK launch of the all-new Volkswagen T-Cross which is still going strong in 2022.

In this T Cross Review we test drive the 1.0 TSI R Line to find out if this latest compact crossover is a future Car of the Year. With the slightly bigger T-Roc proving popular, can lightning strike twice for VW?

One major issue that everyone seems to miss including VW conveniently, is that the T cross only has 40 litre fuel tank capacity. That's a smaller tank than some smaller cars. Meaning filling up more often and less range of miles. It's a major flaw and vw doesn't even mention it on its brochure.

Cars were so much cheaper pre-pandemic. Leasing options at an upfront deposit of £1600 would be £330 today

I love vw cars however from the diesel gate scandal and all the fines they paid out, they vw started to cheat us on quality on their newer cars especially on the interiors....it's a shame to see. the best thing about them I must say that they stay true on the quality of their engines nevertheless

Confused, I am. Just buy a Skoda you get all the good bits from the VAG bin, they are screwed together better than the rest and they cost less

Most engine options 3 cylinders and power very weak with torque TDI eco TSI MPI FWD. Can be used 1.4T 150hp 250Nm for 4w.

Every review I watch say "its only for driving it around town?" Says who? Does that make it bad for using it to go to the beach etc?

That’s not how the dB scale works, for every 3 dB increase it is double.

Well just couple of things
Comfortable suspension based on torsion beam ???
I would say cheap suspension from Vw or cost saving.
Also quality of plastics fitted, especially dashboard.Cracking and noisy.Just have a look fitting between driver’s pillar and dashboard.Extremely bad no wonder why there are so many complains from t cross owners forum.
And what Vw doing about it.
As usual nothing. They are saying that this is normal for this crossover .
Vw quality? I don’t think so.
Very much overpriced for what it is.

So it's based on the Polo, but only bigger. Surely that would be a Golf then!!??
Howard delivers the information in his normal inimitable style that others can only watch with envy. Shame it was such a so, so car.
I'm not sure about these small SUV's, they seem pretty pointless being one if there is no 4WD system. But then, that's just me.
Has Howard heard from the BBC about TopGear yet? :-))...

Seems like a lot of hard plastic on the doors and dash top.

Epidemic of biblical size of these suvs, i try to drive lots of them just because i am open minded but amount of body roll and strange feelings in curves take me to hatchback ford focus and i will buy again hatchback of any brand.
