Why does every member of Metallica have such relaxing voices?

I think you all need to realize something, Lars Ulrich is maybe the only Drummer in Rock/Metal that doesn't really give a shit about his drums skills... He said it himself, he admitted he's not that good but Ulrich has others to offer that drumming, he composed like half of Metallica's music with Hetfield, he's a skilled business man, he speaks for the band and other things... I think you should stop having such high expectations about him... I think he could do some efforts too but still... He's just a human being... All that hate is pure nonsense... Also he fully lives the life he wanted and he's happy about it...

And all of a sudden, everyone in the comment section became a drum god

For those bashing Lars, take it from this perspective. No one ever said you had to be this level of greatness or had to play this set of rudiments and beats to become a professional. Being a professional means you fit the band/music well and that you get along with the other musicians. If I was presented with two drummers, one who feels the music and grooves, the other who has the flashiest fills and very complex, I'd probably pick the first guy who grooves. Yes, all drummers have some flash somewhere in their tool box, but look at the most famous and popular drummers of all time. What do they have in common? They groove very well, fit within the pocket, and get along with the other musicians greatly. That, to me at least, is a great drummer.

People he's fucking Lars Ulrich. In 1981 HE started Metallica. He's played to the worlds biggest stadiums & arenas, his band has sold over 100 million albums, won 9 Grammy awards, he's worth over 150 million dollars....he's a fucking boss. Keep shredding on your kits in your mom's basement I'm sure Lars doesn't mind playing in front of 50, 000 people every night like he has been for the past 33 years.

My buddy's grandfather got a job to retrofit Lar's bathroom in Richmond, Ca. His grandfather completed the job, but my buddy left a noted request on his dining room table for "Monster's of Rock" tickets since he knew, unlike his grandpa, who this job was for. Lar's left two back stage passes on that table and my buddy was super stoked. He met Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Van Halen..etc. These guys are lol. Ok, who play great music...given. I just think it's amazing that the world is small.

It's easy to hate Lars. It's MUCH, MUCH (MUCH MUCH) harder to do what he was able to do.
jealousy is pathetic.

Lars, did your drum set get stolen during St. Anger? Regardless, I love what you did with the cardboard boxes on that album.

What Lars lacks in technical ability he more than makes up for in an amazing ear for musical writing and arranging. Everyone that has always wanted Lars out is truly ignorant to how this band operates

Class act, this guy. Metallica got me into metal, they are and always will be my favorite band.
Rock on Lars, there's a reason you're at the top of the heap.

I've always loved Lars and his drumming. He is the cream of the crop and he wrote so many legendary songs. A true artist and a humble soul. I will always love Lars and Metallica. They are truly a special band and they deserve all the fame and fortune.

I like most of Lars drumming. He's never been impressive on a technical level, but he was creative and original back in the day. He turned beats around, hit his crash cymbals where you wouldn't expect them, etc. Same reason I love Thomas Stauch (ex-Blind Guardian), very original drumming.

Any drummer who knows what he’s doing knows how good Lars is. And knowing what you’re doing has nothing to do with technical ability. But actual drumming. Being the groove. Being the beat. He’s one of the best metal drummers of all time. You know why? Because you will never listen to a Metallica song and say “oh wow there’s Lars”. He seamlessly blends into the sound. He’s always perfectly servicing the song. Metal always sounds best in its most simplest form. He’s no technical god. But he’s a great drummer & composer. He writes these songs. He clearly knows how to drum to them. His bank account says so.
