Windows 10 File Explorer in Windows 11

There use to be a way to change the file explorer in Windows 11. Unfortunately in Windows 11 23H2 Microsoft broke the reg hack that would revert File Explorer to the old Windows 10 File Explorer. In this video I will show you how to do it anyway.

Here's one you can mention in a future video. Found a setting microsoft quietly slipped into the windows 10 an win 11 settings menu without users even knowing or being informed of it. in windows 11 go to TIME & LANGUGE/TYPING/TYPING INSIGHTS there you will find a setting that is on an allowing AI to log your key strokes. IN win 10 you go to DEVICES/TYPING/TYPING INSIGHTS to get to it.

BRAVO! ABSOLUTELY GREAT! Thank you so much. Explorer Patcher gave me back the one thing that I can't live without: The Windows 10 'Copy To' and 'Move To' functions missing in Windows 11. If that were the only thing this great patch offered, I'd be completely satisfied. I'm happy that there are other options to explore. Thanks again so much! What I don't like in Windows 11 is the inconsistent UI of File Explorer. The standalone version of Explorer has the W11 UI, but the pop up version (when you save or open files) uses the W10 UI.

I remember even when Windows 98 came out, people would revert back to the old Windows 95 file manager.

Explorer Patcher worked! (not the other solution with a new registry key). Together with Open-Shell Menu and QTTabbar (QuizoApps / Wikidot - tabs in a separate toolbar, that you can modify/group - not the clunky Windows 11 tabs) I'm back to my W10 set-up: smooth, versatile and functional - thank you!

Thank christ I found you. As a NT 3.5 /4, 95, 98, XP etc etc server support engineer back in the day, I moved to Linux and Apple Mac ( Apple Engineer too ) because of work etc, Now in 2024 I have moved my personal Pc back to Win 11 and boy what a joke of an operating system it is now. I need loads of mods to make it uncomplicated shall we say ! Explorer patcher is a great piece of kit so thanks for highlighting it and making my computing world easier..

Everytime Microsoft releases a feature update for Windows 11, they have been disabling Control Panel and opening in settings. There are some things better in the Control Panel like the Devices and Printers that was introduced in Windows 7

Q-Dir (Quad Explorer) - Custom Colored file types to quickly differentiate files, Easy layout changing, portable, all the other usual features..
That's my go to after Hating Win-11 and reverting back to Win-10.

Now that you can drag tabs from one explorer window to another, and drag a file or folder from one window, onto the hidden tab off another window and that tab comes to the foreground allowing you to drop the file or folder into a folder in that tab, I haven't looked back at the old Explorer. This has revolutionised the way I use Explorer. But all power to those who just want the old clunky way 😄

At 22L39 you talked about the Use classic drive groupings. And you were correct as to what the setting does. But, the reason you were unable to get it to work. Is because you failed to restart File Explorer. Yes! It is one of those settings that require the restarting of File Explorer in order for it to take effect.

20:00 setting it to "left/top" does not mean "top left" but rather "left" for horizontal taskbars and "top" for vertical ones 😎😉

also i hope they add the option for W7 Command Bar + W11 Tabs, best of both worlds

I love the "Tabs" in explorer. It makes so much easier ti work with multiple directories.
