DATA:

Today we're going to talk about what you can do if you have heat intolerance. Heat intolerance is a situation where you get overheated easily in warmer weather. You could either sweat excessively when you shouldn't be sweating, or you may not sweat at all in hot weather. When your body is in warmer weather, you may also feel weak or dizzy.

Heat intolerance can be a symptom of:
1. MS (multiple sclerosis)
2. POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome)
3. Dysautonomia
4. Hyperthyroid conditions

All of the above conditions have a common thread. People with these conditions typically have low vitamin B1. Increasing vitamin B1 may help improve the symptoms of the above four conditions. You may want to take a good amount of vitamin B1 for these conditions. You would also want to find a natural B complex. Nutritional yeast is a good source of vitamin B1.

Vitamin D3 may also be beneficial. But, if you have POTS, you may not want to take more vitamin D. Something else to keep in mind is that the more carbohydrates you consume, the more vitamin B1 you need. Consuming more carbs may aggravate a vitamin B1 deficiency causing you to have more heat intolerance.

My primary Dr and my OBGYN have both told me I am having hot flashes. I tell them that I know the difference between a hot flash and being too hot. It is not the same thing.

I could barely stand up for 15 minutes some days because I'd begin to overheat. Benfotiamine made me feel awful for a week, but now I feel great. I'm able to work again. Go hiking with friends. Shower standing up. Etc etc.

B1 gave me my life back. Thank you Dr. Berg!

My body hates heat. I can’t get in a hot tub it’s almost painful. I get dizzy and nauseous when I get hot. I’m really sweaty if it’s like 75 degrees and everyone else thinks the weather is great

This explains why I started to sweat less often after I started to reduce the amount of carbs.. Nice

This is definitely me. I hate hot summers. I wear shorts in 40 degree (F) weather and I'm perfectly fine.

Oh I'm so glad you mentioned the carbohydrates. I have noticed, for more than 25 years now, that if I eat too many carbs - I mean a LOT - that my body heats up - I can tell you that Summer in Australia for a carb addict is intolerable! So I knew that one caused the other for me - now I know one of the reasons WHY - Thank you! 💖

I really just want to say thank you. I don't know if you'll get this but, again, thank you.

Dr. Berg is one of the few docs who actually understands POTS. I did a low carb diet for 2 months and felt horrible. Once I added healthy carbs back in, I felt immensely better. POTS patients are very difficult as we’re hypersensitive to most everything. I suffer from severe heat intolerance and I didn’t notice any improvement while eating low carb. I’m going to try the B1 and hope for the best. I do have a severe Vitamin D deficiency so maybe correcting that will also help with the heat intolerance and POTS symptoms. Thank you for making this info freely available!

Wow I needed this one, they tested my for hyperthyroid, then stopped, I want to be tested for Vitamins I''m lacking, I'm taking B1 but still having extreme heat intolerance & am dizzy, I don't drink milk & know I am most likely D lacking thanks for pointing these things out, I have a direction to search in. A Fireman I was working with pulled me out & told me to sit down he feared I was going to have heat stroke, it was really bad. Thanks again, Vitamins are your friends.

OMG I have struggled for years and years with overheating and hyperhydrosis and embarrassment and what to wear and not wanting to be around people in summer (we get very hot summers in Victoria Australia). It’s been a cold winter yet I have recently started overheating and sweating without any exertion again and you have just explained why and it’s because of higher carb intake and not enough fats even though I have been doing intermittent fasting for months. Thank you so much Dr Berg, you explain things so simply every time. So glad I came across your videos years ago as mainstream GPs just prescribe drugs without ever looking at the cause…

Very interesting. I thrive in the cold and struggle badly in anything over 80 degrees, I get prickly heat rash from lack of sweat.

I developed heat intolerance with tachycardia: every time I go outside during hot weather my heart will start racing. It's been like that for a few years off and on. The cause of all of that was due to caffeine intake (I usually drink a coffee once a day). I quit drinking coffee and in less than 5 days I was able to get rid of tachycardia due to heat intolerance. Some people might be under this situation, and coffee could be the culprit. For my case heat intolerance was so bad that I had to wear icepacks to avoid tachycardia in only a few seconds while outside. I'm finally able to go outside without being worried under heat but I still do pay attention to hot weather. I am not really sure how coffee can develop heat intolerance with tachycardia, and this is a horrible feeling that gets you handicapped, but if someone experiences on of those problems, then it could simply be due to coffee intake (even with 1 cup of hot or cold coffee in the morning). Be safe everyone, cheers from France.

Wow 🤩 I found an answer! I have also noticed SSRI can cause heat intolerance with hyperhydrosis.
