Boris Johnson said it is “clearly now the will” of the parliamentary Conservative Party that there should be a new leader.

Announcing his resignation in Downing Street, he said: “It is clearly now the will of the parliamentary Conservative Party that there should be a new leader of that party and therefore a new prime minister.

“And I’ve agreed with Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of our backbench MPs, that the process of choosing that new leader should begin now and the timetable will be announced next week.

“And I’ve today appointed a Cabinet to serve, as I will, until a new leader is in place.”

I still didn’t hear an apology for constant lying and deception. All me me me and my greatness.
Good riddance to the lying wife too. He is totally shameless and egotistical.

why is it so hard to find someone honest and caring for the British population and willing to make change to old laws that desperately need changing

I remember when Boris was voted in and many people voted for him "because he's funny". Turned out quite the opposite. James May foreshadowed this when he said on Top Gear "people like Boris because he has slightly funny hair but he will be remembered as Boris the Oppressor". Pretty accurate.

Embarrassing last 3 'leaders' cant lead and succeed only in quitting.

You shouldn’t be thanking voters. You should be apologising.

Did he ever say the word regret? Sorry? Responsibility? Accountability? He's ruined so many lives and businesses.

If I was him, I'd just enjoy my life now. He's rich enough.

I don’t think a new leader or new PM would change the mess we are in, whilst Rushi and Javid bragging about what they have achieved, can’t we just focus on the inflation, energy bills etc etc, the normal people’s lives, not just these self-centred selfish politicians.

Ever since Cameron was elected, the UK has been on a fast paced spiral of decline when it comes to every facet of its political and social existence. The current system of elective democracy and governance is redundant as we don't live in a representative democracy of the UK. Boris was and is the PM of the English. Scotland hasn't recognised the Tories for well in excess of 6 decades, Labour got nearly 50% of welsh votes, and of course NI vote for their own parties. Yet despite only having a mandate from the English, the Tories have not only gone about the division in the country, but separation from the continent, and not to mention woeful mismanagement of the economy and spiralling cost of living. Enough is enough.

As famously said."You can fool some of the people for some of the time but you cant fool all of the people all of the time" They should put that on his headstone one day.

Who put the canned applause through the PA system?
Steve Bray gets dragged off by smirky patel's jackboots for doing something similar.
