Just an FYI. Year-round is 9 weeks on, 3 weeks off. All students out a week or so at winter break and the week of July 4. All tracks have at least one break that is 4 weeks off. Students change grade levels after July 4 and the new year always starts just after the holiday week for 3 of the 4 tracks. The 4th track starts typically the last week in July.

Super informative Ellen! I've always wondered about the pros and cons of a year-round approach. Good stuff!

Ngl I loved wake county schools. I went through elementary school there, my brother went through elementary through middle school, and my sister went all the way through. They had incredible academic options, as well.

I love the idea of year round schools for student learning, but I wonder how working parents handle it? Where I live there are a lot of day camp options during the summer...are those types temporary childcare options offered year round there?

This is very interesting. I've never heard of a magnet school before.
