There were two songs called "heavy metal" from this movie and soundtrack. The Don Felder song is great in it's own right. Both songs are high energy.

YES! You are finally checking out The Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar! This guy has done it all, Lead Singer for Montrose, Van Halen, Chickenfoot just to name a few. He has his own tequila brand and bars. He is going to be 75 and he is still going, still performing. Standing Hampton and 3 Lock Box were fantastic solo albums. Nicely done you two!

One of the best concerts I ever attended was with the "Red Rocker". He played for 3.5 hours straight and never stopped. It was pure rock from start to end.

I think you guys would really like the movie "Heavy Metal", from which this is on the soundtrack. It's an R rated animated film from the early 80s, with a twilight zone-ish feel of multiple connected stories. But with excellent music throughout.

Sammy Hagar is one of the most underrated artists out there. His album "Standing Hampton" is a CLASSIC (Heavy Metal was on that album). And the live version of Heavy Metal from back in the 80's is spot on. It's on YouTube.

Sammy's voice is absolutely stellar in the verses. Gritty, charismatic and soulful, just like how we like our heavy rock n' roll.

Sammy is probably the best live show to this day. At 73 years old he's still able to hit those tough high notes without any backing tracks.
I saw Sammy Hagar & The Circle two times at Harvy's outdoor venue in South Lake Tahoe and those guys killed it.

This was Sammy Hagar in 1981, just as his solo career was taking off... 5 years before he joined Van Halen as the new lead vocalist. I believe he played guitar on this track as well.
