While it’s hard to know which food origin stories or real and false, a cursory study will show hamburgers were being sold in many states by the 1890s lol.

Been eating there for 45 years. This will be the last generation who owns the place and works there. Sally's Pizza sold out and so will Louis' Lunch. I make my own Louis' Lunch burgers at home these days. Fire up the grill, 80/20 burger with a few other cuts mixed in, 2 slices of Pepperidge Farm toast (I butter the toast), onion, and a schmear of Cheez-Whiz. Yeah, you got that right: they use Cheez-Whiz for cheese. And it's very good. I gobble them down and then take a nap. And they don't throw you out if you're a newbie and ask for ketchup.

The hamburger is from Hamburg Germany 1885 or so while sailor came to shore and wanted a Frikadelle (like burger patty) but they had to get on the ship again so the chef put the Frikadelle in bread

If you want Louis lunch go ahead. But after you spit it out go across the street to bar and get a pizza

Connecticut native here, and I can honestly say that new Haven is like the NY of CT where food is concerned. All of the famous places are there. However, since Fairfield county is more affluent, that's where you'll find that mouth-gasm gourmet goodness! Super expensive here tho! 🤑😮‍💨

I'm from CT and still love here. This place may have invented the burger but it's over rated. You can't ask for ketchup on your burger either, it's some unwritten rule they take seriously. Like I said it's super over rated but for some reason have a big following, I'm guessing cuz of the history snd the fact it's in New Haven and usually anything new haven gets a weird hype around it. Great content though. I'm not hating on this video, your doing great work. It's just being from CT I get tired of this place getting so much recognition when I the places are so much better

Tbh it’s not really good and I’ve overheard their waitstaff be rude to other guests each time I’ve been there. Not really worth a visit if not nearby or not even at all just based on my previous experiences

Me: “Mom, please, can we get real Louis Lunch hamburgers for dinner?”

Mom: “No, you don’t need that. We can make Louis burgers at home.”

The burgers at home: **uses a normal hamburger bun**

bread needs more toasting (I actually like toast more than buns) and with that much beef I prefer to split it into two patties
