I had 2 Mesas and 2 Fender blackface amps but used a Peavey Classic 30 to play the fern bars in the 90's. People used to ask what I was using EVERY NIGHT! Great Amp!!!

Recently I gave Joe my old kitchen pan and he made it sound like Jimi. Same with my balcony shovel. Joe will make everything sound like Jimi.

I’m no guitar virtuoso or have the ears like those guys have but I always thought I have a good enough feel for music and what I’m hearing. IMO it’s night and day between the two. Whether or not the $10K vs $50K pricing is accurate is not the issue at this point. Having said that I thought the $50K setup is miles ahead (sound wise) of the lesser priced setup. At least in recreating the Hendrix sound.

Did anyone see the Skunk Baxter video when he described working at a guitar shop in ‘60’s when Hendrix came in to trade his Duo Sonic in and Skunk handed him that white Strat for the exchange! Skunk said the boss docked him three weeks pay for the value difference between the Strat vs Duo Sonic! It was a short, but I think it may have been the Rick Beato interview?

...Jimi played with no effects/clean a lot too, though, and there's no way the little Peavey combo can push air and be dynamic like a big Marshall into a sealed 4×10 cabinet. a lot of the magic happened when jimi turned off the effects and just used the volume knob and his atrack, to shape the tone.
as far as the Squier goes, no problem.
