Joe Bonamassa's 'Boomer' Pedalboard

Blues-rock's biggest ambassador walks us through his "boomer" pedalboard.

This time, there were some new members of Bonamassa’s ever-growing-and-shrinking collection of gear—which he spoke about at length earlier this year with Cory Wong on the rhythm guitar kingpin’s Wong Notes podcast for PG—pressed into service, including some recent-arrival Les Pauls, of course, and perhaps the most covetable collection of historic badass amps ever played on the Ryman stage. But rareness, novelty, or familiarity isn’t what determines which toys come out to play. Bonamassa starts by building a rough set list, and then chooses the right instrument and amps for each song. So, watch, look, and listen!

Love how John can’t stop giggling because the volume is so overwhelming 😂

I love how they both opine how affordable that pedalboard might be… perhaps a kid with a paper route could afford what’s on it. Then you look at the vintage Les Paul, the Van Weeldins, custom made Fender Twins and of course the Dumbles….and realize you might need a bigger route.

Joe Bonamassa inspires me . Creative, independent & would love to get to see him live ... The video from The Royal Albert Hall is one of my favorites

I love that he casually just lets the fuzz face sustain and nails the exact feedback tone before the solo in Cream's White Room. Such a badass!

He's the Swiss Army knife of blues playing...Extremely technical with a flawless sense of timing and lets not forget, his impeccable phrasing

I like JB rig videos. I haven’t listened to a JB song in over 15 years.

That's great!! Simple pedalboard, and once again, it show's you it's all in the player's hands!!

INSANE but that's what Joe does! I've been to his shows around the country but I'd love to buy a VIP pass just to be on stage to feel those amps at that volume right after sound check. "Stand here ladies and gentlemen, don't move, don't say anything, just listen and experience this for five minutes".

Nice to see the Rotosphere as I thought I might be the last person using one, Joe has great taste.

I use a Boss ME 50. Echo, dirt, chorus, reverb - as needed. Gets the job done.

I don't get why some talk shit about JB? I think he is a good guy, plays very well and has a sense of humor.
Maybe the trash talkers are jealous?

Always love how haters are criticizing this man's great tone, or better how he achieves it. The biggest part imho is 40yrs of pure dedication and raw talent. Forget the van weelden's and all the boutique stuff. A pair of silver jubilee's, a decent guitar and this board will do if you're dedicated enough to spend all of your time with it.

Joe is so contradictory... i just saw a documentary where he was claiming he never uses pedals just old amps... 😪

Love the way the sound bounces off the polycarbonate.

Those EV speakers were part of the EVH sound from early days. He’d have two of those plus two Celestion in each cab.

BEAUTIFUL green lemon '59 Les Paul. I wonder which one that is. Lazarus, maybe? It's nice to see real Les Pauls out on the road getting played for the masses.

That Leslie sound has almost exactly the same sound as my zoom multieffects chorus
