It was almost impossible to make Tracy meet the expectations...
And yet she surpass them all !!

Barny marrying Robin actually set Ted free

He finally relaxed into himself, wasn't desperate or grandiose, and wasn't narcissistic. She was perfect for him...

I love how Ted never judged Tracy about her awkwardness about her ex, since he himself was still head over heels about Robyn three days ago.

3 days is a good rule, "but every rule has an exception"

1:27-1:40 is my favorite part of this scene. Just the way Marshall was going on about Ted ends up blowing all his serious relationships, but Lily is just watching Ted, realizing that there was something different about this girl.

The beautiful thing about this show, is when you rewatch it, it’s clearly a love story to Tracy, with a side story about Robin. All he wants is 5 more minutes, that 5 more minutes before her boyfriend beats him up. It’s a final hurrah before accepting her death. It’s a beautiful show, and without the last five minutes has the most perfect ending I could think of.

I just now got what lily meant by “not like this, this is different” it’s different because Ted was finally able to fall in love without Robin getting in the way. Ted finally let go of her for real this time and he was allowed to love with his whole heart not a piece in robins possession.

First date repeats the entire story arc in one date. All Ted does is tell her stories...which is the whole show. She interrupts him with bad news (she's not ready to date/her impending death), yet he offers to walk her home. She stops at her door (symbolic of her death). Ted: "This is where I leave you." Yet she invites him to continue the story telling. He pauses. Why? He's already remembering her. Their walk continues with her as a ghost.

I always felt like she let her relationship with Louis drag on for far too long. He was definitely a nice guy who did the right things, but she knew that despite all that, there were no feelings of love like there were with Max.

"I guess... this is where I leave you." That was probably the hardest thing Ted ever had to say in his life. Sure he's been in love before and been engaged and thought that it was the forever type, but even Lily saw it. This was different.

I love when Lily seeing Ted and put her believe on him and saying "not this time", because Lily know somehow Ted's smile is different than before, and she's knows too that Tracy would be a perfect match for Ted, ughh i love that

Just figured out the whole point of the show. Eternal tension between perfect and good enough. Tracy is perfect but that's a fantasy. We know almost nothing about her. Robin we know everything, and she's far from perfect. No love is perfect. We are all flawed yet others come to love us still by either accepting our imperfections or negotiating change. Negotiate in good faith, because it's a two way street. But also remember choosing to be alone can be good too. It resets your world (and while you're in a relationship it reminds whoever you're with that you aren't a door mat). When you're alone, everyone around you gets reset to a yellow umbrella.

The look on Lilly's face as she sees this is the real thing for Ted...when a dear friend knows you and wants you to be happy ❤
