Hello, My Name is Kent Hovind 1: Hi, Dr. Kent!

In this video, some two-bit John Morris Pendleton wannabe tells us that he thinks he uses stupid definitions of "evolution", then complains about some crappy old textbooks for a while.

I cover approximately the first 8.5 minutes of the 110-minute "100 Reasons Evolution is So Stupid!". Introductions, definitions, and some Big Bang discussion.

This is "the big video" I mentioned a while back. But it's coming out in chunks, because "big" meant "BIG". Consider the length of this video compared to the amount of Hovind material covered, and then consider that Hovind's original video is almost two hours long. I was going to make one video, but when I realized it would be six hours long, I decided to make it a series instead.

Many thanks to eddygoombah for the generous permission to use his music, and TheLivingDinosaur for the use of the accompanying video! Go check out their channels if you haven't already.

Kent Hovind is living PROOF that something that's infinitely dense can exist.

I was raised with this. And it makes me incredibly sad. I loved dinosaurs so they took me to see Dr. Dino because he was invited to my church to speak. I loved geology and I was discouraged from studying it - I mean what 12 year old asks for books on Volcanoes for Xmas? He was invited to my church again and my family went. I was raised with this. I believed this for over 2 decades. TWO DECADES. I am so sad for my young curious self. In another life I would have been a geologist. :(

"How did we get the rest of the elements? Plus the /synthetic/ ones?" did....did he just ask how synthetic elements were created naturally?

I love this series, when i feel crappy or down. I just play this and it reminds I'm nowhere near as stupid as Kent's arguments. Thank you for making this series logic.

honestly, i wouldnt laugh to hard at these people... I used to be one of them, i shook hands with ken ham, and was a fervent believer... and honestly, when ur so brainwashed, any outside reasoning becomes white noise... it took me 26 years to finally break out of that belief, punished throughout highschool for asking questions, threats from family to disown you... they say it takes alot of courage to admit your wrong, but when it comes to religion its fucking terrifying...

I love how Kent's audience laughs at things they don't understand.

"I don't know how they know it (But i think it is stupid)"
That sumarizes the entire conference.

Listening to the this the umpteenth time, am I the only one who notices that Hovind's snarky remarks, his constant laughing, etc, is much like the mannerisms of a schoolyard bully?

This is what a Hovind citation list would look like:

[1] - A guy from a reputable university
[2] - My back passage
[3] - A scientist I once heard
[4] - The Bible
[5] - My ass
[6] - Rectal derivation methodology
[7] - Quote mine from a real scientist
[8] - It's just obvious

His fellow inmates must have felt relieved the moment he was released from prison.

Seriously, why do people laugh at science for revising its data? That's literally the cornerstone of science. Observations+ hypothesis + experiment= data. Which is reviewed and revised as the process is altered and repeated until a data point stands up to review. It's like if you built a car with one wheel, , it went ten feet and crashed. Then you built a car with two wheels, it's very unstable. You build a car with three wheels, it rolls under hard turning/braking. You build a car with four wheels, it functions well and you build on that concept. It's like these people would be okay with science if it settled for the first car and never refined it's findings... I swear man, it comes down to closure for these people. They HATE nuance and vagueness. The unknown frightens them soooo much they don't even try to vet any data they've been given. They have satiated that question, regardless of the answer's validity. It's been answered and that's good enough. Blows my mind that people can live that way...

Listen, if you're going to ask Kent Hovind to introduce himself, you should at least quote directly from his doctoral dissertation:

"Hello, my name is Kent Hovind. I am a creation/science evangelist. I live in Pensacola, Florida. I have been a high school science teacher since 1976." Last summer my mommy and daddy took me to a museum. It was boring. Their were many dinosores boans and it was scerry. My mommy and daddy told me God kild the dinosores so they wood stop eeting all the plants.

The astute observer will have noticed that the actual quote ended somewhere before the end of the paragraph. I feel my addition improves the original text to something closer to doctoral levels.

Don't you love when they conflate the big bang, abiogenesis, and evolution together?

They are claiming to be greater experts on science than the scientists, but they can't be bothered to learn the basic definitions of the words that they use.

I began watching this series almost 2 years ago as a Mormon. Very comfortably an Atheist now for a year.

These videos change Lives!
Thank you Logicked!

I like how he questioned how the 92 elements, *INCLUDING* synthetic ones, were made... Great job little Kenty, you don't know what synthetic elements are!

I've heard LOTS of rebuttals to Hovind's 'Dogs don't give birth to non dogs' argument but your "Wolf giving birth to a Non-Wolf" refutation is the best I have ever heard, as it uses his own nonsense to refute his argument. You have now affected my life irreparably. For the rest of my life I will use that exact argument when Creationists roll out that old mantra of theirs. Thank You. Brilliant.

I was a big follower of Kent Hovind back in the day. Watching him now feels like seeing myself with 80s hair. What was I thinking?

I'm gonna find Kent in 2028, and laugh in his face when nothing happens.
