What qualifications does Oxford expect from international applicants? What about GCSEs and A levels?

I sat down with YOUR questions and the lovely Dan Pugh-Bevan from my old college at Oxford University, St Peters! Dan's job is to help people apply to Oxford, and to dispel any myths that you might believe about the university and the process of applying.

Check out life at my old college!

Why make a 1 minute video that just says "look up the site"?
Sounds like anyone going to Oxford would've gotten that far on their own....?

Unfortunately, on the "International Student's" page, it is clearly stated "An HSSC Certificate isn't considered a qualification that will promise a strong application". In the video he said that we don't need to do A-Levels or GCSEs. What did he mean by that? Are other qualifications accepted?

Hello, I graduated from a school whose professors were really hard on grading students, who suffered with grade deflation. For example, I was given a 16 out 20 (B) as a final Literature mark but I got a 19 out of 20 (A*) in the national exam. I got A*s in two other national exams as well. My question is: would they care more about school grades or national exam grades which evaluate students in a homogeneous way and with the same criteria?

I don't even have the entry requirements equivalent for my country...much lower in fact. But that's not just due to lack of intelligence or anything but ADHD and depression which was diagnosed very late.
Can't I take A levels to meet the criteria and begin from the start? I've a Masters Degree in my own country as of now. But I don't think I can make it for DPhil either. The university I went to had a pretty fucked up marking scheme. It's good enough but not as much as required as far as Oxford is concerned. I am getting better at academics and really want to be studying at Oxford. Is there any way?

Suppose my school results, holistically, aren't the best but I have medals in Physics Olympiads as well as other Physics and Maths competitions in general. Would that disadvantage me? Like, would they take into account the fact that I've attained awards in these competitions, if I apply for The Oxford Physics course?

Hi I’m in america but not an American or a green card holder (long term visa). I really am terrible at number theory and Probabikity so AMC is not a great competition for me but physics Olympiad might be a good opportunity for me if I manage to get GC. My GPA is top 5% of my class and I my SAT scores are perfect (1600 and 36 on the ACT). I don’t have many extracurriculars aside from an award in ISEF for biology tho. I am terrible at computer science and cannot code if my life depended on it so I haven’t done any physics research in my time in high school. I think I have the capability to do really well on the PAT and interview but my super curriculars are just so dissapointing that I don’t know what to do. I can’t do research (because I suck at number theory and at computer science - both terribly important in modern physics research), AMC 10 is also eliminated because I am terrible at the two main concepts required and because of this I don’t really have any math camps/programs under my belt. Could you please help me - I am completely lost and very scared that Oxford will reject me because of my short comings in super curriculars (they say they take it into account). I do have some research in biology (I enjoy biophysics) but I don’t know if that’s really related to my subject. Please let me know if you have any advice
