The best way I have ever found to describe Townsend is simple (beyond his insane talents) is he is a showman. His talents are insane... To be able to sing like he does, is hard to match. Then add in his ability as a music writer, which is also hard to match... Then add in someone who can do both AND have the ability to do both at once, to call it talented is a MASSIVE understatement. And then add in his stage persona... He goes beyond just being a musician, and is a showman in so many ways. He knows how to balance all that talent, while also putting on a show (when live) that doesn't go against the music, buit accentuates it. He has a trifecta that is rare to match any singular point, but to hit all three points is all but unheard of.

The guitar is his signature Framus. The company is owned by Warwick (who make the basses that Marco Hietala from Nightwish plays -that double necked one is half Warwick, half Framus).
They are about $5000 each. It's a cracking guitar. Wish I could afford one.

Well, I came here to watch a reaction to "Kingdom" but I didn't realize how amazing you look! I wasn't expecting that. Looks aren't important but I didn't realize you were this striking. Took me a second to adjust! anyway, great channel, very informative. ridiculously beautiful.

What fascinates me about DT is that he learned to do everything he does vocally by doing it. Usually, mastery comes from combo of talent and hard work of training and practice. In his case, it's the ridiculous talent, a couple of decades of practice, but not much (if any) formal training. So much so that he self-admittedly could never explain how he does it to another... Not to mention that he self-identifies as a guitar player who could not find a half-decent vocalist and had to do it himself... The only artist I know of with comparable range, both in octaves and variety, might be Mike Patton...And if you look for positive and uplifting, please consider Higher and Spirits Will Collide )))

I imagine that the song that got blocked was Deadhead at the RAH - If you want to give it another try, if you hide the video, or blur it out or something like that it will likely go through.

Grunge Grumpy has a great list of songs to pick from. They each show a different side of Devin! I swapped out his Higher version with a slightly different one. It all comes down to personal preference. In the version below, you will see Devin with a full-blown orchestra. In my opinion the choir really adds some great layers and his interaction with the audience is really something else.
