Eight steps process for effectively hand sanitization
Keeping clean is key in the pharmaceutical industry to avoid any contamination that could impact the quality of medicines.
Every pharma company must follow strict cleanliness practices to ensure medicines are made and packed in a clean environment.
People are often a major source of contamination. Even with top-notch manufacturing facilities and strict quality checks, maintaining high cleanliness standards in the pharma industry is impossible without trained staff.
Hand cleanliness is crucial for controlling infection. The goal of hand sanitization is to remove any harmful micro-organisms picked up during work from your hands. Good hand hygiene benefits both the facility and the medicines.
Hands are often the main cause of contamination because they’re used in most activities. They can easily spread contamination from one place to another.
A good hand sanitization process can help prevent microbial contamination in the facility and medicines.
Here’s an eight-step process to sanitize your hands effectively, ensuring all parts of your hands are clean:
Apply enough disinfectant to cover all hand surfaces;
Rub your palms together;
Rub your right palm over your left with interlaced fingers and vice versa;
Rub palm to palm with fingers interlaced;
Rub the backs of your fingers against the opposing palms with fingers interlocked;
Rotate your left thumb while it’s clasped in your right palm and vice versa;
Rotate your clasped fingers of your right hand in your left palm and vice versa;
Your hands are now safe
This technique is recommended by WHO.
