I'm only 17 but Elvis is by far my all time favourite artist. I grew up with his music and songs (because of my dad) and he still is the King, non of these modern artists can top him. There will never be another like him. He is timeless. My favourites have to be 'In the Ghetto' and 'If I can dream'.

I love how in the comments people are saying "he stole blues and rock from black culture" Correction, he was inspired by those genres. Never did he take credit for creating such genres, and Blue and Rock n roll isn't supposed to be for one race while I do agree it was created by Black musicians and artists. Music is supposed to inspire people and it's a creative outlet for people, it's a way of expression not supposed to be divided into people's racial opinions.He was inspired by soul, gospel, rock n roll and country. Elvis was a legend, he didn't steal anything, there are a lot of people of many races who are influenced by soul and rock, they're really talented don't shut them out because of where they come from or who they are, that's just hypocritical.

40 years ago today! I was a 14 year old and loved him since I was 8! I played his albums when I was growing up in the funky 70's and most of my friends laughed at me then, now of course they all love him too! I am now 54 and it still moves me to tears to think about that day, August 16th, 1977...also I guess because it reminds me of my youth! ~RIP "E" ..*..I always loved your music and how bout the " bling!" Elvis started it !! Look @ 2:20 the watch he has on! His voice was like a BELL!!

Over the years Precilla and others have made people think that the song Always On My Mind was written for her but Red West wrote this song and Seperate Ways about him, his wife and kid that he was separated from who lived in California and when he let Elvis hear them Elvis said you are killin me with these songs but Red knew that if Elvis sang them they would be hits and Elvis knew good songs when he heard them. You can Google songs that Red West wrote for Elvis and read about this. I am thankful that Precilla helped save Graceland but she and EPE have made millions off of Graceland and Elvis's legacy over the years. Now Elvis 's fans that travel from all over the world are being charged to walk past his grave and pay thier respect and love for him. It's sad because Elvis loved his fans, and it was the fans that started the tradition of a memorial for Elvis each year.

How to make chocolate chip cookies:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour

teaspoon baking soda

teaspoon salt

cup coarsely chopped nuts

package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
Steps

Heat oven to 375ºF.

Mix sugars, butter, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
