No one can jump from 0 to 100%. Your companies will first be rich by assembling then they can use that fund on RND.

There is a reason they write designed in California, rather than usual made in China or India because they have so many distributors and then they enquire lot of parts from diff countries like labour batteries from India china display from korea design in Usa etc. So full fledged manufacturing never happens for Apple. It is a most looked after brand and even assembling them is not a bad thing to do warna sab kr rhe hote assembling

On one hand people say India should focus on labour intensive industries so that more jobs can be created (which is correct). But the same people start criticizing when phone makers assemble phones in India which generates job. Even if not 100% indigenous, isn't sone jobs better than none? Creating end to end supply chain in India is not easy and will take time.

Everything starts from 0 so yea something is better than nothing and before 2014 manufacturing was very less India and currently it is big job provider and soon enough we will be manufacturing more than 50% of a phone in India .... ecosystem building takes time
