I'm worried about The Sims 5...

Concerns about the development of Project Renee (The Sims 5.)

Project Renee is the codename for the next Sims title (The SIms 5). Today I discuss reasons why I'm concerned about The Sims 5 gameplay.

They're chasing free-to-play monetization trends rather than trying to build a game that Simmers actually want. I don't think the people in charge of Project Rene understand what people like about the Sims.

I don't understand EA's obsession with online, multi-player games. They tried with the sims 4 and then quickly abandoned it, and now are doing Project Renee

The main reason they are hesitant to call it Sims 5 is it is likely NOT Sims 5. I have a feeling Project Renee is a Sims Online 2.0 instead, and players only allowed to control and customize ONE Sim / apartment per server / game. Microtransactions will be added regularly to expect the B&B and CAS catalog. Your Sim could continue online as NPC while you are not playing. At least that's my take.

I am not going to buy sims 5. They haven’t even fix everything in sims 4.

As an original simmer from Sims 1 up and til Sims 4 I totally agree with you, I miss the goofy, quirky crazy and questionable things we had in both Sims 1 and 2 also yeah the ads were cheesy and cringe and i always thought they were fun. my fave was the sims 2 when a sim goes loopy and a shrink has to come 'fix' him, and the social bunny as well the good old times of a sim dancing with a mop or wearing a lampshade etc..

The reason why most gamers don't enjoy EA is just how money hungry they are and also how well they can deflect and cover it up. I can tell the people working on sims have the passion but whoever is managing them most probably don't have that passion where they would just do anything thats trendy to make cash quick. Even most packs feels very rush just to get it out there

I'm worried too :/ I'm looking foward for Paralives and Life by You, not the Sims 5, at this point EA has done so much damage, for me to come back to the Sims franchise :/

Thet fact there's no Pool table in the sims 4 just proves your point, it's been an item in every game to this point and they still don't realize/care that we don't have one, we got a British pub for god sake and did it have a darts board or pool table in it? no ofcorse it didnt.

Even thinking about playing online with others fills me with anxiety and dread. It will be a big NOPE for me if that’s the case. At least give me the option to stay in my own little world please Sims 🤪

You are right Satch. We don't want multiplayer. If we wanted multiplayer, we'd play a different game. EA has such a "hard on" for games as a service that they can't shake the temptation to turn the Sims into that kind of service. I'm not interested. I like what Paralives and Paradox have got cooking but I'm done with EA/Maxis. I know what they are like, they don't fix what they've got. It's a zero sum game. I know people want to stick with it for sentimentality, but you really shouldn't. Don't reward shonky business choices because that's what you'll get. EA are the worst for that. Their CEO is a real shark.

I refused to buy the sims 4. (🏴‍☠️ if you know you know.) I told myself when it was fixed id dish out the cash. Haha. Yeah. Theres no way in hell I will pay for the sims 5 at this point. I also want to add- this legit just sounds like IMVU/second life vibes and Im not really about it. At all. Im hoping life by you and Paralives fill the hole for me that sims has left.

I think at this point I personally want the project to fail and have EA watch it burn. Sims needs to be left alone to rest. Too much time and money has been sunk into Sims 4 for me, and I will NOT start over with "Sims 5"

And yes, EP's are $40 full price in the US ($19.99 on sale)
Hearing your scenario of them possibly breaking down season ACTIVITIES to separate packs and upselling them would be a NIGHTMARE and the ultimate deal breaker for a lot of us.

Dude…you got me this morning with the no friends comment. I have 2 friends who don’t play the sims and don’t want to. Who am I multi playing with? Thing is companies keep looking for “new” in the wrong way. Greed and a lack of real customer-focused innovation. Even tougher to swallow when we already play their current game which is so glitchy that we just get use to resetting our characters all the time.
