The scene is actually pretty funny in the book - the soldiers look in amazement to Gandalf and praise him for his great wizard powers. He's like all humble saying "I only gave good council and made use of Shadowfax's great speed. You all did way more than me" and so on. And they all think he's fucking with them looking at the huge forest that appeared over night. Then he's like "Oh you mean the trees? - I didn't do that and I have no idea how they got here" :D

"And all that could be heard were their screams and the rustle of leaves."

Forget the eagles, call on the trees instead.

can't believe this was cut, this is one of the most satisfying scenes in the second film

I wonder what Sauron would have done if a forest just suddenly appeared in front of the black gates?

Eomer was on top of this situation and was right for holding his men back. Karl Urban doesn't get enough praise for his role in these movies. He was awesome.

"You see that weird forest that appeared behind us out of nowhere and that just happens to look like the one we were destroying back at Isengard? Let's run in there" :D

Huorns : "Hi orc buddies! That's nice you came by here, because... IT'S PAYBACK TIME."

The look of astonishment on Legolas's face is a nice touch - he's well travelled throughout Middle Earth and well versed in its mysteries but he hasn't seen anything like this before.

Orc: Quick! Run to that suspicious forest that suddenly appeared!

The funfact is; actually it was Huorns (the walking trees(not ents)) who destroyed the most of Saruman's army, not Rohirrim

The trees waited just long enough until all the orcs fullý entered before letting them have it the hard way

This can be a good anti-deforestation ad. :D

i always thought it was just the production forgetting how they framed Helm's deep and the forest was supposed to always be there. But finding out that its just moving trees made me feel like a smooth brain

Gandalf's looking at the forest like "I have no memory of that forest being so near Helms Deep"

I don't know how many times I watched this movie but it never gets old

A forest is never late, Saruman Baggins, nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to. And right now, it means to kick some orc behind.
