This is obviously less epic than the other two charges the Rohirrim make, but it actually feels even braver considering that they have literally no time to prepare, and they just have to saddle up and give their people whatever time they can. Just a complete do-or-die moment that everyone has to accept at the drop of a hat. That's what courage looks like.

1:52 this small part of the scene where the women and children are fleeing, and the men have their weapons and are forming up ready to lay down there lives, and Aragorn briefly looks back before joining the rest of the men really struck me as a kid, gets me even more now I'm an adult with people to look out for.

The way Aragon is charging full speed back to the column to mount up and counterattack, the way the word "Wargs!" sends a ripple of panic shooting through the refugees as fear strikes through them, and the little girl crying, "They've found us!" cutting through the clamour - just a masterful piece of sound design and direction.

The scene gives me the most chills in the entire trilogy…..it shows the true nature of what it takes to face barbarism…there is no negotiating no parley….the warg horde must be faced or all of your women and children will die…amazing scene that I’ll never stop watching

Just a rare, perfectly executed scene. Men following the flowing banner of a respected leader while literally and metaphorically attacking the wolves threatening their families without hesitation...that's the shit tales are made of.

1:52 the White Horse of Rohan, with the Rohirrim charging up the hill to do all they can to stave off a massacre -- this is my favorite movie trilogy of all time, and of all the glorious shots in all 3 films, this one is my favorite <3

Pros and Cons of riding a warg:
+ 2x of attack force
+ more flexible than a horse (they can climb up and down)
+ as being a predator, they are more intelligent than horses (which may help it's rider when in danger)

- not comfortable for the rider (looks like a rodeo)
- needs large amount of meat whereas horses are herbivore (a costly support unit)
- probably good at sudden attacks but not suitable for travelling (this large predator cannot keep its performance on long distance)
