Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. and Michael Steele discuss the ways in which our history informs our present. The pair take a look at Dr. Glaude's latest best seller, "Begin Again: James Baldwin's America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own," and discuss what we can learn from Baldwin's struggle and what America still must do to discover itself and embrace its brokenness.

Gentlemen, thank you so much for this discussion! You're saying what's on my mind. I'll have to listen again.
I'm sitting in my office watching what's happening daily in horror. Hard to ignore or compartmentalize.
Oh, and I'm in the middle of Malcolm Nance's book too! (It perfectly documents what I've witnessed and am witnessing. We must have our own plans & not be delusional.)
The key is to know History, the Truth & Facts but it's exhausting keeping up...for 7 long years with no change in sight.
Quite difficult to ignore the nonsense and bad behavior happening all around. These folks are truly insane.
Thanks again to both of you for speaking out honestly every week and showing up on my screens.
Do Be Safe Out There. Cheers!

The fact that a year after this was posted there are less than three thousand views, proves the reality of what you discuss. I live in MS, am married to a black artist whose father is a surviving Tuskegee Airman, and have experienced (directly) the existence of white privilege added to the fragile nature of white ego. This has radically altered my entire world view. Love this uncomfortable discussion as it does even more to help me find ground to stand on as I fight racism in all of its forms.

I didn’t know you YouTubed. You need more viewers. You need to align with MSW, Politicon, MeidasTouch, TYT, KeepersOfTheBreach, PodSaved, politicalVoices, TheRinger, TheRingOfFire, or do your own. You are too good to not be more prominent. (You used to be the only Republican I read on Twitter.). You are still amazing. It is because you hosted JC’s MSNBC the last two weeks. Subscribed to you know.

"The Dreamers". Ta-neihisi used that term repeatedly in "Between the World and me."

One of the best conversations I've heard in a long time. A question Mr Steele, at the beginning you said that you are learning reading Prof, Glaude's book. What did you learn?

I appreciate both of you guys but I feel like they have already chosen to end democracy. They feel it's their only way to survive.
