Double clutching like a pro (Truck Driving School)

I honestly don’t know how this being missed but I’m assuming all the “professional truck drivers in the comments” are blind which is a scary thought for yall to be on the road 🤣. For context this is me in the video this is also over a year old the title clearly states double clutching like a pro in Cdl school, no on not even I a year later in my trucking career even use a clutch it’s common sense but do realize in the state of Alabama it is a requirement at this point it’s blatant hate or redundancy or just pure blindness to not see the practice track literally right behind me and see that the title says Cdl school then I honestly don’t know what to tell you 🤷🏽‍♂️.

No real practical use other than for getting a CDL license. Still do not understand why they will force you to do that crap

Should be teaching to keep both hands on the wheel unless you’re shifting. Keep them hands up there between shifts.

Last time I I double clutch was in trucking school. Once you get out in the real world, you learn real quick that nobody double clutch. You just "float gears" which veterans like to simply call it " shifting gears" I tried double clutching again just to see how it feels and it felt stupid as heck and unnecessary lol. So I went back to floating instead lol

Man i been driving a lil over 10 years now, and have literally forgotten how to double clutch. I try it every once in a while, and only end up single cluching before nuetral and floating after nuetral lmao! Floating gears is the cause of me forgetting how to double clutch, especially since i never touch the clutch, unless im starting out or stopping, and sometimes before a downshift, if its a truck thats hard to float downshifting!

Starting and stopping is the only time you even use your clutch.

I remember when i was in truck school a year ago i hated this!!! I drove mostly standard pickups and motorcycles the past 15 years and then going to double clutch was so hard to retrain my brain. Didnt help that our truck was missing alot of gears we had 1st but were only aloud to use that for tug and service break test. When we were on the road we started in 4th then 6th 8th 9th rest of gears were dead and would just grind. Plus the shifting handle was welded and whoever did it didnt make it straight made 8th really hard to hit always wanted to go to 10th and grind. Im so happy im done with that!!

In the Caribbean Islands, they double clutch when shifting every gear thats the norm

Make sure you post the pro shifting under a load going up and down hills.

Great job man! Once youget out and find a job, youll be able to float. Not sure why they dont just teach that. Double clutching is pointless. You can just single press the clutch too.. i dont get it.. but great stuff man🎉
