An outtake from my favorite scene in the film. Even though HW can't hear the conversation, it is told from his point of view. For those of us who've ever been unnerved and saddened by Dad drunk and soulful and out of his depth this scene is extremely moving. The bit in the film where Daniel tipsy walks over to their table and confronts them aggressively, "You look like a don't you?!", is heartbreaking. This man is not an enigma or a heartless operator, he's a wounded egoist and a child incapable of subsuming his emotions in social negotiations.

Wow I just realized that the song played at 0:13 is the exact same song in the baptism scene right after Dano makes Lewis say "I've abandoned my child"

I adore Daniel in this movie but Tillman did a super good job on his part as well, his dialogue and responses are cunning and beautiful, I wish there was more of him
