Tree ferns are fantastic plants! When I was in Tasmania I went to the fern glades. From that experience I wanted one in my garden. The tree fern I have is like 60 cm (trunk) . I have it 12 years now. I managed to grow new ones from spores, which takes a lot of time for them to grow the first real leaves. I live in Germany and I have to put them into the cellar during winter time. Tree ferns are living fossils. A very beautiful plant.

Hello, Sir.
I am from South India.
I bought a tree fern last week and had no idea how often it should be watered. Thank you so much. As watched the video I watered and sprayed the trunk. It's in a pot actually. Your video meant a lot for me. I am a beginner and I love💚 FERNS.

Just what I needed thank you. I have just bought my first tree fern. Very much a baby with hardly and trunk to speak of. I have it in a very big pot half planted in the garden. Hoping to overwinter it in my poly tunnel?? X

We have five really big ones in our gardens they tolerate the full sun very happily in a tropical climate in South Africa. Yours are magnificent
Also they have seem to enjoy a staghorn around the trunk area

Very interesting about keeping the trunk wet. Something I haven't done up until now and new branches seemed weak/dry. Hope this changes things. Thanks

beautiful plants, on my trip to oregon I plucked some leaves off one and left them in a pot. Have one baby growing with a croton gold dust.

The bit about not preferring full shade would depend. In New Zealand they typically are the first to colonise land slips and you see a great swathe of them in amongst older trees where slips have occurred. Different genus but Cyathea, particularly C. medullaris make nice specimen plants for gardens. Had one outside the kitchen window at a previous house as did the neighbour.

Hello, I have been using a watering can rose on a hosepipe straight into the crown for 1 minute intervals 2 times a day, seems to be working well, do you recommend I swap this for a constant drip feed to the outside or to the crown centre ?

We have a Dicksonian tree fern and it has a baby fern growing out of it on the side - how and when do you separate a baby fern?

A couple of questions about tree ferns.

First, will a juvenile tree fern be able to live outdoors in Arizona heat, provided I keep it in the shade? Secondly, does a tree fern grow slowly enough that I could keep a juvenile tree fern for around 4 years until I move, without worrying about size issues? After 4 years, I want to move to Oregon where it's cold and I know tree ferns can survive.

Thanks.

Hi thanks for the advice.. I keep watering my fern tree to keep the trunk damp, but it's in a pot... can the soil its planted in get too wet? Are any roots in the soil at risk of rotting? Can it be overwatered?

My fern has grown to the ceiling of an outdoor shaded area - I don't want to remove would trimming it back to the trunk kill the tree?

We purchased a Dicksonia antarctica (Tree fern) (2 foot) and planted it directly into a shady garden bed. We have watered and fed it since planting at the end of April 2020, a month later and still no fronds emerging from the crown. Am I being too impatient and when can I expect to see some new fronds?

My tRee fern has been doing well but this year after cutting out the brown fronds the top looks bad and there are broken and blackened fronds and only one frond that has stated to grow. Can I slice it all off and start again?
