How To Read Roundabout Signs | Learn to drive: Intermediate skills

The ability to read roundabout signs is essential for any driver in the UK, as we have thousands of roundabouts. They are everywhere and come in all different shapes and sizes. Some have only 2 exits, and others up to 6. Some are very small, and others are huge - and have the national speed limit! Since there is no such thing as a ‘standard roundabout’, in this video we will explain why we must read the sign before a roundabout to understand its layout and cross it safely.

The safest thing you can do on a roundabout other than a left hand first exit is a complete lap of the damn thing and then decide upon your exit on Lap 2. 🤣

Hello everyone,

We are a start-up based in Glasgow working on developing a smart device for cars that turns the rear-window into a display which can autonomously sense tailgating and display a “Maintain Safe Distance” warning on the rear-window without causing any rear-view obstruction.

We have practically tested this out using a basic prototype and found the results to be very positive, as we realised that most drivers tailgate unintentionally and when they notice the “Maintain Safe Distance” sign on the car in front of them, most of them back off.

While, the device can also be used for on-road communication like expressing gratitude or saying sorry (using simple voice commands on a mobile app), which is usually done by flashing hazard lights (which as you know is illegal).

We are currently working on developing the final product in association with the Edinburgh Napier University, while we have also validated the product with the Department for Transport and the Road Policing Department and confirmed that it is legal on the road.
