The Winners and Losers of F1 in 2024

The 2024 F1 season is over and what a year it has been. Early season domination transformed into one of the most unpredictable and competitive seasons we’ve seen in years. So, with it all wrapped up, here’s a look at my winners and losers of F1 in 2024.

Hi Sean ty for the season coverage man, even before the planet f1 partnership I loved the streams and vids but having more resources now has improved the Channel further while still keeping the charm and good vibes looking forward to next season

Would like to see Perez and Ricciardo at Cadillac on a 1+1 contract. Resign the one that does best and bring in a young driver to replace the other. Feedback will be invaluable.

I think placing Lando not in the winners category is a disgrace. Max started with 7 wins in 10 races and so a big head start. Lando had come into the season never having even won a race as the Mclaren wasn't competitive enough. The reason why it became a possible fight for the championship was because of brilliant driving by Lando. F1 power rankings has him No1.
Max quite rightly should be right up their but to be dammed for coming runner up is ridiculous. Yes he made some mistakes, so did Max and all the drivers. It was the media that hyped the situation and then is blind to the super performances of Lando. He equalled with 8 the highest number of poles in one season by a driver this century and capped it off with a brilliant drive
to finish the year under enormous pressure. He out qualified his team mate 21:3. To say he was not a winner beggars belief.

I agree that Hulk leaving will hurt Haas somewhat but I do have faith in Esteban Ocon flying the flag for experience if you like. He may also bring a new dynamic to the team that could help them progress even further. But in F1 consistency is key and it would of been the dream scenario had Hulk stayed.

This video started so nicely with the acknowledgment that RB and Max actually dominated at the start of the season. Not many do admit it, most just brush off the start and only talk about the second half of the season. But the end of the video was garbage. Sure Lando did make mistakes, and sure McLaren did make mistakes, but it was never a proper championship fight between Lando and Max. Max gapped everyone at the start and by the time Lando got a chance Ferrari and Merc were also in the mix. At the start of the season, Max had 1 rival, Perez. When McLaren got good Lando had to fight Piastri, Leclerc, Sainz, Max, and at times Russell and Hamilton. If Max had gone from 0 wins, 1 pole, and 13 podiums to 4 wins, 9 poles, and 26 podiums in one year, no one would talk about not putting him on a winners list.

I was not able to watch as much of this season as I wanted, so I just want to say: Thank you, Sean, for being my much-needed "lifeline" to Formula 1.
Here's hoping that next season, which promises already to get super competitive, I will be able to make the time and enjoy it much, much more.

Since you've asked for your viewers opinion, I would add Charles Leclerc to the winners list. He's without doubt the second best driver of the season as a whole. Like Max has had atleast 1 race where you can look at his performance and go "WOW!"

Disagree with your assessment of McLaren. When the guy who won the drivers title wins 70% of the openining 10 races, it was always gonna be a mountain to climb. Calling them/McLaren a loser is an incredibly bad take IMO. Sorry mate....

I think that Ferrari are winners by making strides in a bunch of little things that should be good for them in the future. Strategy is one area that definitely needed improvement and they made good progress. Now to continue that progress and not let up in improving all aspects of the team.

Lewis winning at Silverstone for the 9th time makes him a loser? In a car that was incredibly unpredictable. Russell had the same problems!

And you have Alpine as winners (I'm not talking about the drivers. As with everyone else, they can only drive what they're given). It took until Brazil to get any decent result and Gasly's car blew up afterwards when he might have got a podium.

How do you not rate Lando as a winner? He made massive leaps this year! The team didn't back him for a run at the championship until it was effectively too late.

I honestly can't agree with any of the above.

i love the new category, simply because in Short it ist BOBIG. I would add the "Fans" to the Winners list since we finally had a pretty entertaining competitive Season, but also would add "acessibility" to the Loosers list. In many countries, for example here in germany, F1 disapperade behind a gigantic paywall. If i wanted to see very race i need to pay 30€ per Month for that, cause its only available in a package that includes a lot of other sports that i dont care at all about. F1 TV is blocked here and the only other option is even more xpensive so. Super annoying

Lando Norris is the single biggest loser of this season. Could and should have won most if not all the races since the second half of the season.
