Analysis: Ukraine attacking Russia 'quickest way to lose the war'

Ukraine has given assurances to its western allies that they would not use weapons donated for their defence to attack Russia.

Prof Michael Clarke says that if Ukraine was behind recent drone attacks on buildings in Moscow, they are "sailing very close to the wind", of confirming Vladimir Putin's narrative that the West wants to destroy the Russian state.

I wonder how long WW2 would've lasted if the allies agreed to never attack the enemy on their own soil

this isn't making anyone in the west nervous, Ukraine should do whatever it needs to defend themselves

At the same time, Putin sent 40 cruise missiles toward civilian targets in Ukraine. Maybe the west should request restraint by russia instead?

Uhm... I still don't get why Ruzzia can attack and invade and expect not to be attacked in retaliation.

Imagine Germany bombing London and the British being told not to fight defend themselves, but don't fight back.

So, big guy beating up little guy with everything big guy owns is OK but someone hands little guy a stick with the condition that they don't hit the big guy with it... seems

I have to disagree with Prof Michael Clarke in this one. It is Moscow narrative before the unjustified aggression of Ukraine but they do the same with Kiev every day and there is nobody in Russia commenting against it.

I have absolutely no problem with Ukraine hitting back the same way Russia is hitting them.

I really don't believe Moscow a damn thing

A rare swing and a miss from Michael on this one.

As an American I have zero problem with Ukraine hitting targets in side Russia and I think we should give them what they need to do so.

I call Clarke's analysis flawed to say the least. If Russia was attacking his country he'd say they have every right to address the aggressor. I don't think this will have an impact on what is given to Ukraine in the future. The F-16's that will be arriving in 90 days will be much more of an issue for Russia...but hey I'm just a simple man with my own opinion. However I must say the Storm Shadow sent by England were timely to say the least. Russia uses drones from Iran, no difference...Glory to Ukraine

First absolutely asinine to say Russia should be a "safe space". Secondly they're assuming it was Ukraine, there's several militias in Russia currently active.

Getting Russia to commit Air Defense to Moscow seems like a very rational shaping tactic. This is a very weird talking point. Can we please all remember who the aggressor is who is sending cruise missiles into packed train stations and bombing hospitals and schools.

So Russia can attack without impunity, strange attitude to a war . Part of any campaign has to impact the civilian attitude to Rusdian aggression has a consequence.
Pretty ironic given the Uks past history of bombing other countries indiscriminately they would have reservations about Ukraine.

It's the very first time I'm really disappointed by Pr Clarke's analysis. This emboldens Putin, reinforcing his belief that he can do whatever he wants in Ukraine but the opposite is unthinkable. Really sad.

I don’t understand this analysis. These are short range drones…which means they could not have been launched from Ukraine. That points to Russian partisans, not Ukraine.

If Mr. Clark were charge of the Allies during WW2, we would all be speaking German or Japanese.

If Russia can attack Kyiv, Ukraine has the right to attack Moscow as well. I see nothing wrong about that.

All those drones in the footage were short range consumer drones. This was either a false flag or russian resistance.
