Also check the warrant and tell them to not go outside of the scope of the warrant.

If they have a warrant, ask them to give you a copy because you want to read it!!!

I disagree with the if they have a warrant portion. You should ask to see the warrant. Sometimes the warrant is restricted to certain areas of the home or items. Be sure they don’t go over what they are allowed to do, and document what they do while there it could prove as good evidence to get something thrown out

This is difficult if you never had police trouble before you may be in shock and want to cooperate not realising you are incriminating yourself

Wouldn't it be cheaper, faster, easier to educate the police than to teach 300 million people to defend themselves against the police?

I don't answer the door to cops with guns .

Keep your screen door locked.. this will keep them from putting their foot in your doorway to keep you from closing the door.. forcing the door shut on their foot will be assault and they can arrest you in into the house

Number one: Don't answer the door.

He forgot to mention the one thing Not to do, Don’t open the door!!
If you must, keep the storm door closed and locked and slide the window open a little to talk. But never just open the doors, in many cases if you do, they’ll just walk right in.

I've been in law enforcement for 25 years and tell my friends and family to only open the door if you called for them to be there or they have a warrant

What if they come to the door to serve paperwork?

See the warrant, if they have one. Make it plain, record it and tell them they can only go where the search warrant lists.

Ask if they have a SEARCH warrant. If they just respond by saying they have a warrant, it is undoubtedly an ARREST warrant with is not a search warrant. Tell them go away. If they ask for your ID, tell them to pound sand.

Actually the very first thing is do not open the door and ignore them

Actually, I can't believe you forgot one of the important steps as a lawyer. If they do have a warrant, make sure they let you see that warrant and read over it very carefully, so you know the scope of what they are allowed to search, the judge will list exactly and only what they are allowed to search within your home. Make sure that is all they do.

It doesn’t matter if law-enforcement has a warrant or not they always claim to have a warrant, but they won’t produce. It just say it’s in the car and back in the office. That usually means they don’t have one, but even when they do have one they refuse to show it to people, and we have a right to look at it before they’re allowed in but if they have a warrant they can come and they don’t have to ask. I think that’s just common for them to present a warrant and then tell them to open the door. I’ve seen too many videos where they have no warrant they had no warrant at all, but when they came to the door and they were refused, they kicked the door in, or they tricked them to open it they tricked the person to open the door and then they stick your leg in there and then in law enforcement officers do whatever they want because they can hide behind your qualified immunity. We get tired of hearing YouTube and Facebook lawyers come on and say what your rights are but law-enforcement doesn’t care what your rights are. They’re gonna violate them. They do it every day across this nation and it has to stop, they need to follow the same laws that the citizens do but they do not they use trickery they use trap trick use Tim and they use lies because the courts have given them permission to lie to us and the courses their duties to get information or do whatever they wanna do so how can we believe anything they tell us if they’re allowed to us a thing we cannot if we lie to them it’s a criminal offense and we go to jail we can be charged for giving information to enforcement officer and it’s not right that they believe they are above the law. They can do whatever they want

You forgot the first and most important. DO. NOT. OPEN. THE. DOOR!!

And another one: if they do have a valud search warrant and you're staying out of the way, RECORD. THEM! If yhey go beyond the svope if the warrant, you own them... Like "search the garage for a stolen motorcycle" dors not allow them to enter the house and look in your desk...

Boy! Yeah we all know what a warrant is but we don’t know what a warrant looks like and more importantly the difference between a fake warrant and a real warrant which should definitely be one with a judge’s signature, right?

As I'm not a criminal, I open the door to police & ask them if there is anything I can do to help them. If they ask if I have seen anything, I answer. Police officers are NOT (in the main) tyrants & help to keep ordinary members of the public secure. A lawyer loves a good law suit.

Where does “you are only allowed to search exactly where and for what the warrant states. I do mot consent to searches or inspections or looking at anything not explicitly covered by the warrant
