Origin of Just In Time (JIT) TOYOTA Production System

After the end of World War II, Japan tries to regain its economic prosperity. One company leading its manufacturing boom is Toyota Motors led by Taichi Ohno and Eiji Toyoda. In spite of having difficulty with their capital, they manage to compete in the global automobile market by devising a new system in managing inventory - the Just In Time or JIT. This system will later be the foundation of the widely adapted Toyota Production System.
