I'm facing an MRI on my left knee soon and was dreading the thought of having to go into that tube, It appear that the process allows for the head and shoulders to stay outside the tube which would make a huge difference.

I'm so glad this day and age they have these MRI machine to look inside your body so the doctor could see what's going on before you go in for surgery if you need it it's nothing to be scared about you're in here just make sure you get a large machine sometimes they try to squeeze you into a small one which is no good just tell him you want to go to a place that has a large one listen to some music and before you know it it's over with and they pull you out or I could say is good luck

5:30 In PD fat saturated axial image: fluids (infections, bone edema) appear bright while fat appears dark.
PD fat sat sequences are v. useful for visualizing cartilage, ligaments & bony edema.
5:51 PD fat saturated coronal image: clearly see the meniscal cartilages, ACL & PCL.
It is excellent for meniscal tears.
6:09 Lastly, review the sagittal images: All of them allow menisci, ACL & PCL, tears and insufficiencies.
6:21 This is a star? sagittal image: useful for highlighting infections and bony edema.
6:30 A T1 sagittal: fluids dark, fat bright. Dx cystic and blood components where blood is bright.
6:47 T2* or T2 gradient echo sagittal: fluid bright, muscles gray. Very useful for visualizing menisci, ACL & PCL.

Is this why I have to sit still in a tube for 45 min tomorrow!? So if the person is a wizard at scans. I can be out in 10 min?
