I have a Rimowa carry on and that’s how I only use it, to carry it on. Never spend that money on a check in luggage.

This is now that they sold the company! Old RIMOWA is still the best!

If you are looking for something more affordable but high quality buy a Samsonite suitcase. I have had mine for over 10 years: the locks are great, the handle is very sturdy and not lose like this one in the video, the outside is made of a hard material so that your stuff will not be crushed under other luggage on a plane (not aluminium so no dents).

The quality didn’t actually change much, but the price changed enormous! I bought this one 2021 for 600EUR now a year later it’s double the price, not to mention before the acquisition it’s even cheaper so for under 500 EUR the quality is quite good!

I LOVE my Rimowa. I bought a sleeve for the carry on which I have checked several times. The wheels are fantastic. I have tried brands named in the comments. Those brands are fine too. I personally travel quite a bit and need my carry on to be top notch. I’m probably going to get the trunk as long as I can get the sleeve. Everyone should get what they prefer and just understand the different nuances. I researched long before I bought and am very happy with my purchase. If there are issues with a purchase, most luxury brands with take it back or swap it out if need be.

I got rimowa luggage the hybrid, and love it . I’ve walked miles with these in nyc and Chicago with terrible sidewalks, snow, gravel, etc… and it’s still going strong

I actually disagree with you in this case. I am on my sixth luggage in the family. They are light, tough (esp the wheels), and very durable with our oldest being about 7 years old. We never bought it for the brand but for the quality. Saying that we didn’t have this silver aluminium one, we have the poly one.

Dents and scratches are part of the aesthetic you get. Pieces that don’t look like they fit are designed that way so when pressure happens in the air it fits !! You clearly have no clue what you bought

You do realize your paying for lifetime warranty right. If there a problem, let them know.

I’ve had a Tumi for 5 years and LOVE it. Feels luxury while isn’t too showy. If you know you know…

I’m not sure about this. Rimowa can last a very long time. My boss has hers for over 20 yrs already and they’re still in great condition.

The luggage workers at the airport tend to "throw" the more expensive suitcases for fun.

The best luggage wheels are Rimowa's. I have Check-in Medium, Cabin, and Cabin S. I love them all!

Only get the aluminium ones for hand carry, for check it best to go with their polycarbonate one. I enjoy both my aluminium and polycarbonate ones.

That is the point. People buy them knowing it will get dents. If you don’t want that you just get the plastic one. The wheels are significantly smoother then other brands

Got the essential and I love mine! The wheels itself are a dream! I still think to the general public Rimowa isn’t yet widely known so still a ‘coded luxury’ item.

Sorry to hear about your experience though!

Nah there’s no way that Rimowa would have sent something like that out. Blame shipping for sure.

Their customer service is top notch, so send it back. A friend of mine sent their 8 year old Rimowa back in to change a broken wheel & it came back with all of the dents banged out and fixed the wonky shape free of charge

Suitcases are like sunglasses essentially they are made in a small number of factories so the difference between designer and high end is essentially fabrication and aesthetic. Constructions are very similar (from an ex suitcase buyer)

Im a baggage handler for a major airline not to be named and handle about 700-1500 luggages per day. This is how Rimowas are designed, to collect scuffs, dents, and all other imperfections. That’s normal for Rimowa. Your luggage’s purpose is to protect the contents inside and securing them from unnecessary shifting. Then is the convenience and the way it handles when on the move. Rimowa is good and so is Away, Delsey, Ricardo, Travel Pro, and even Amazon Basics.
Samsonite is the one to avoid. They can’t design a proper luggage even when their lives depend on it and people choose them because of how cheap they are. It’s always Samsonite that gets caught on and slips off belts and other machinery, messing up the stacks because of their attempt to be “different”. Samsonite is the only luggage manufacturer that would remove basic necessary features like a top and bottom handle for dumb unnecessary ones. The Samsonite hard cases fail miserably with their patterns and extremely poor quality zipper.
