I'd add that a gentleman is self aware and knows his worth. He knows the difference between serving others and being used by others and asserts himself in the right way at the right time.

Great stuff Antonio! I'd add one more characteristic to the list:
CONSISTENCY
A gentleman does not behave like one only at a given place or time, he strives to be one at all times. A true gentleman does not act like one at his workplace, then become a jerk at the gym. Similarly one should not cease to be a gentleman on weekends, or after half a year. Becoming a gentleman is a choice, and that choice applies to that person's whole life. Sure not all days are equal, sometimes it's really hard to maintain composure, temper and whatnot, but moments like those are exactly when a true gentleman really shows: despite everything else, he stands tall, unbroken and stays true to himself.
