I loved Death’s Door. And yes, I got my umbrella trophy and platinum. I figured if I went straight in with an umbrella run without ever checking out the power of other weapons I would never know how much harder the combat was with merely an umbrella to tickle enemies with. A few challenging fights, but otherwise not as tough as I expected. 😁

Good list. I adored Toem, Unpacking and Death's Door. I love how much variety indie games provide. 😊 One of my other favorite indie games this year is Wytchwood. Came out a bit too late to make any lists, but I enjoyed every minute of it.

So far, Death's Door is my GOTY, so it's nice to see it get a good slot here. My only problem with it was that the enemy mob rooms started to get to be too much and felt like padding, but everything else is perfect.

So happy you folks picked Inscryption as the top dog. Truly one of the best games I've ever played, and it still has me guessing while I approach endgame in act III. And card game wise, the most satisfying I've played since The Witcher's Thronebreaker.

I really loved playing through Inscryption and learning more about it after finishing it. I also have been trying to find a game that gives that certain vibe that Inscryption gives; not necessarily looking for the game play, but looking for the unsettling yet interesting feel of the game.

Wildermyth is my number 1 this year. I love creating the characters i love in it.
Sable also comes close, but it’s a bit disturbingly buggy and i am not sure about the developers trying to repair these bugs. 😔

No surprise, we get a nice list here! Sable my #1 indie this year, over Eastward, Ender Lilies & Death's Door. I still need to play Inscryption, which does look fantastic! If it had come out on console I would have already played it ... I heard the dev say recently on twitter that he's working on consoles at the moment. But I may bite the bullet, buy it on Steam, and hope my old laptop can handle it LOL. 2021 a great year for indies, as well as for JRPGs! That combo makes it the best new game year for me since 2017. We don't need those (missing) big releases to have a fantastic year with videogames!

Both my indie and overall game of the year for 2021 was the fabulous Death’s Door. So good that I bought and beat it on PS5 and Switch, and as someone who isn’t particularly bothered about trophies, I even summoned the patience for that 'umbrella run' for the platinum trophy. What a game!

Even though I didn't beat it yet, just visually I think Eastward was my favorite Indie game that came out this year.

I never really payed attention to Indie games. Then I saw a video for Inscryption. I watch it for a bit then turned it off. But I soon found I could not stop thinking of it. I watched the rest, and it blew me away. Took some time, but I eventually picked it up. It was every bit as amazing as the videos made it out to be.
