Fix for the Operation Could Not Be Completed Printer Error (0x00000077)

If you are trying to print or set your default printer and are getting a message that says The Operation Could Not Be Completed (Error 0x00000077). The System Does Not Support the Command Requested, then this registry edit MIGHT help you out. I say might because it's one of those things you can try when nothing else works such as uninstalling and reinstalling your printer, updating the driver, checking for errors in Device Manager and so on and there is a good chance it won't help you but its worth a try. Since this involves editing the registry, be sure to back up your registry and computer before trying this.

Navigate to

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows

Right-click on the Windows folder, and select Permissions

Make sure the administrators group and your account have full control

Delted the LegacyDefaultPrinterMode and UserSelectedDefault values if they exist
