Common sense is simply our brain's way of making connections between commonalities within different scenarios; so it does not need to use as much brainpower. For example... you have learned knowledge that cars upon the road, moving in your direction pose a threat; but it is due to your common sense, that you can extrapolate that any fast-moving object on the road poses the same threat and the common link between the car and another object is its speed. Common sense is the ability to use knowledge in another area, this is why we learned to use tools. It has nothing to do with how commonly known something is. It is odd how the word common, in common sense is used, it is completely unorthodox.

Many years ago I looked in a dictionary for common sense, all it did was give circular arguments. I eventually started defining it for myself after seeing how it was not used. Common Sense is using experience and your powers of deduction to anticipate the consequences of actions. Young kids don't have much experience so won't have much common sense. Likewise kids don't understand sarcasm, which also didn't have a good dictionary definition. Sarcasm is a response to what is perceived as an absurd comment by extending the logic of that comment to its ultimate absurdity. By doing this it can either highlight the absurdity, or be seen as ridiculing it. Kids are still learning about the laws of nature and don't know what is absurd and what is real. Even Quantum Electrodynamics seems absurd to adults. Physics tends to explore the frontiers of absurdity. There is a humour in absurdity, and thus in sarcasm. There is also a form of common sense as it applies to bureaucracy. Common sense is thinking outside the box. The box can be operating practices etc. This contrasts with its opposite, bureaucratic thinking. Staying inside the box is bureaucratic thinking, and is the refuge of the corrupt and/or incompetent. Generally rules prevent corruption and may even be some formulations of common sense. It is when they are misapplied to extraordinary events that problems arise. In calamities or natural disasters it may be necessary to bend rules, which is where common sense comes in.

I am incredibly unique. I also have a sense, just like the common people.

Being computer illiterate has nothing to deal with common sense... Common sense is when you behave like human having empathy to fix up a sorrowful situation, and reasoning subconsciously with proper judgement knowing what is right and what is wrong and incase you don't know you have the courage to ask...

I think some of us are confusing being sensible with having common sense.
Having good sense or being sensible is a real thing.
Common sense is not real. How can it be?
Being sensible implies that it is not automatic.

If common sense was real babies would have it.
Moving your hand after being injured is instinctual.
There is instinct. There is common knowledge. No common sense.
