I am going to my second year 😁 these are some tips and some stuff I think you will need for a first year😇

1.sketch book
(carry on a small sketch book with you everywhere and whenever you see something interesting sketch it out it will be helpful for you to improve your lines which is important for your future design sketches)

2.instead of water colors I think using alcohol marker like Copic markers is better and easier to carry
(there is tons of tutorials on youtube I believe practicing before starting the semester is better so buy cheap markers and practice since copic are expensive you can continue using the cheap ones if they are good I believe he made a video about it 😁)

3. For the pencils I have a 0.5 HB mechanical pencil.
(I tried using the Pencils set I had a hard time using the H then the B since I had a tough hold my tutor told me to use 4H and then HB to darken the lines but when darkening I had a rough time drawing on top of the light pencil without ruining the right dimensions and I could never finish quickly cause I had to draw twice which made me get less than 4 hours sleep on my first semester💔)

4. Always have a 15 or 20cm ruler cause you need it sometimes triangles are annoying 🤦🏻‍♀️.(maybe most of the times 😅)

5. There is something called eraser template this is a must to have item 🙂.

6. For my uni we don’t take or use any programs like AutoCad for our first year I will learn on my second year but I still wont use it for designing until my third year so if your university program like me and you have a fine laptop you don’t need to buy a new laptop for your first year but you will need one for your second year so save some money laptops are expensive at least for a broke student like me 😅.

7.learn shading and rendering before you start I still don’t know how to shade and I am suffering with rendering 😭😭💔.( but you can survive if you are like me don't worry if you didn't get the time to learn before the semester starts😇)

8.research some tips for modeling
(cutting neatly needs prictice💀)

9. Carry on some healthy snacks eating is important and architecture work makes you so busy that you neglect your health and without our health we can't do anything 😓
