i really hope more people start looking towards decompilations/pc ports of games. they have always been the superior version of the game, easy to setup and unlimited things people can add to these versions. mario 64 and oot being an example, really looking forward for majora's mask to be decompiled tbh.

I'm 40 so I realize I'm biased and probably "wrong" in saying that, personally, no game since had topped the perfect balance of creativity, glitches and perfect design hasn't been achieved in a Mario game since (I do love Galaxy ngl but it's a distant second)

I definitely emulate Mario 64 whenever I play it nowadays. It's just more convenient, and I don't have to deal with the disgusting borders on NSO.

I hope you do a video showing off the decompiled PC port. I did try to download it once, but my antivirus software flagged it as malware and while I know it was very likely a false flag, I was still too scared to override it.

This a good video ! I'd like to add there's one more way to play super mario 64 ds on 3ds -
someone recently created a patch for the game that allows you to use the circle pad as a real analogue stick, removing the 8 directional restriction.
At first this may seem like the best way to play the game on a handheld natively and it is really good, however like you said the 3ds (from what i know 2ds and xl models have this issue, not sure if original 3ds/new3ds models are the same) makes the gameplay blurrier than usual so you lose the crispiness of a dsi xl screen in favor of analogue control.

Idk if any other comments said this but the wii u also got a port that has the resolution upscaled and runs at 60 fps with a few more quality of life changes.

Also when playing the ds version on 3ds, there are texture mods as well as mods letting u use the circle pad and c stick thing, giving 360 degree movement and camera!

Super Mario 64+ PC is best way to play it. Unavailable/hard to find for download. Need to compile it yourself.. It is worth the trouble tho.. I play on laptop at 1920*1280.. here is a gameplay
I do have all that is needed to compile but won't post link to mine as SM64 rom is included. e-mail only.. sorry.
