Why Liechtenstein almost bought Alaska

The tiny Principality of Liechtenstein, was on the verge of buying the huge territory of Alaska from Russia, thus beating the USA to it.

The story sounds too incredible to be true, which is why it was dismissed as a rumor for a long time. In the meantime, however, it has been confirmed by the Prince of Liechtenstein himself.

So today we look at the incredible story of why Liechtenstein almost bought Alaska.

3:34 Liechtenstein in fact only has 38, 387 inhabitants, far fewer than the 380, 000 claimed in the video!

"Let's sell Alaska to Liechtenstein to keep it out of the hands of the British". Proceeds with sale. 10 years later, Britain invades and annexes Alaska. @AlternateHistoryHub, your move!

Would've been hilarious if Alaska became North America's Brazil.

Actually, I have an even more logical result if Russia sold it to Liechtenstein. Perhaps Britain would respect the purchase as part of the balance of power in Europe, especially due to Liectenstien's near patronage alliance with the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time. However, Japan would not, therefore, Japan would conquer Alaska instead. So already, this will change the North American continent substantially...but hold on, I am not finshed. World War II becomes far more interesting. Japan now has an oil supply of its own, so it no longer needs to attack the US due to its oil embargo, nor does it even need to attack Indonesia either for the same purpose. However, since the US will eventually probably still get involved, and the Soviets would eventually declare war on Japan, it would result in the Soviets re-taking possession of Alaska, just like they retook all former territory that Japan had in its possession. Now the Cold War gets more interesting.... Again, @AlternateHistoryHub...your move!
